Abstract:
Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic relapsing inflammatory disease of the intestine closely associated with immune dysfunction. Colonic lamina propria macrophages are the most abundant population of macrophages in the intestinal mucosa, capable of effectively maintaining and regulating the stability of the intestinal environment. The inflammatory responses mediated by these macrophages play a significant role in the occurrence and development of UC. This article provides a comprehensive review of the roles and mechanisms of two different subtypes of colonic lamina propria macrophages in UC, aiming to provide new insights for the clinical treatment of UC.
