- Abstract: Interleukin 9 (IL-9) is secreted by polar Th2 cells and its expression is regulated by a variety of signaling factors, which is closely related to cytokine microenvironment, autoimmune diseases and allergic diseases. Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a kind of intestinal nonspecific chronic inflammatory intestinal disease with uncertain etiology. It has been found that the immune imbalance of intestinal mucosa is closely related to its pathogenesis. IL-9 is involved in the pathophysiological process of IBD by regulating the expressions of tight junction associated proteins and affecting the barrier function of intestinal mucosa. This review presents the role of IL-9 in IBD.
