Abstract:
J-pouch is mostly used in ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA) , and tension-free anastomosis is performed when the length of mesentery is sufficient. A case with ulcerative colitis undergoing S-pouch during IPAA procedure was reported. When the J-pouch was to be constructed for anastomosis, it was found that the length of the mesentery was slightly shorter and the tension-free anal anastomosis could not be completed. Therefore, the ileocolic vessels were cut to prolong the mesentery for more than 2 cm, then the S-pouch was constructed instead. The IPAA was successfully completed.
