Abstract:
Advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma accounts for about 70% of newly diagnosed nasopharyngeal carcinoma cases. Although radiochemotherapy can effectively control the progression of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, the prognosis remains poor, and recurrence and metastasis may lead to treatment failure in advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Overall, the current treatment status of advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma is not optimistic. Nimotuzumab exerts a tumor-suppressive effect by targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor. Recent studies have found that nimotuzumab combined with radiochemotherapy can effectively control tumor progression in advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma. This article summarizes the research progress of nimotuzumab combined with radiochemotherapy in the treatment of advanced, metastatic, and recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma, so as to provide references for the research and clinical application of nimotuzumab.
