Abstract:
In the past 40 years, significant breakthroughs have been made in lower extremity vascular ultrasound, from the initial exploration of two-dimensional grayscale imaging and continuous-wave Doppler to the revolutionary advancements in CDFI,followed by the widespread application of novel techniques such as contrast-enhanced ultrasound,three-dimensional ultrasound and elastography. With unique advantages of non-invasiveness,accessibility,repeatability,high resolution and real-time hemodynamic assessment, lower extremity vascular ultrasound has played an irreplaceable role in screening and diagnosing lesions, formulation of therapeutic strategy, also in intraoperative navigation and postoperative follow-up of lower limb vascular diseases. The 40 years development history, current status, challenges and future directions of lower limb vascular ultrasound were reviewed in this article.
