Abstract:
Pre-pregnancy obesity is closely linked to the development of dyslipidemia during gestation, collectively contributing to adverse short-and long-term health outcomes for both mothers and their offspring. This review synthesizes current evidence on the detrimental effects of pre-pregnancy obesity-mediated gestational dyslipidemia, explores the potential pathophysiological mechanisms involved, and discusses available screening approaches and management strategies, ranging from lifestyle interventions to pharmacotherapy and lipoprotein apheresis. It underscores the critical importance of proactive lipid management in women with pre-pregnancy obesity. Furthermore, the review identifies key future directions, including the establishment of standardized assessment protocols, the development of precise interventions, a deeper exploration of molecular mechanisms, and the formulation of individualized care plans, all aimed at improving maternal and infant health outcomes.
