Abstract:
Objective:To observe the effect of hyperbaric oxygen(HBO) in the treatment of sudden deafness for the patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods:A total of 80 patients with sudden deafness due to type 2 diabetes treated at the No.904 Hospital of Joint Logistics Support Force of Chinese People’s Liberation Army from January 2010 to December 2019 were selected and divided into observation group (40 cases) and control group (40 cases) according to the random number table method. The control group received glucocorticoids, volume expansion, vascular dilation, and nerve nutrition therapies. The observation group was given HBO therapy on the basis of the treatment of the control group. The efficacy, hearing, blood glucose, inflammation factor, stress indicators, adverse reactions, and complications of the two groups after 3 courses of treatment were observed. Results:After 3 courses of treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group (80.0%) was higher than that of the control group (57.5%), and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05). After treatment, the pure tone hearing thresholds of both groups were lower than that before the treatment; the pure tone hearing threshold of the observation group was lower than that of the control group( P<0.05). After treatment, the hearing threshold gain of the observation group was significantly larger than that of the control group ( P<0.05). After 3 courses of treatment, within each group, C-reactive protein was obviously lower than before, while the levels of nitric oxide (NO) and nitric oxide synthesis rate-limiting enzyme (NOS) were all significantly higher than before ( P<0.05). After treatment, C-reactive protein of the observation group was remarkably lower than that of the control group, and the levels of NO and NOS in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group ( P<0.05). After each course of treatment, the levels of blood glucose in the observation group was lower than that in the control group ( P<0.05). In the observation group, the level of blood glucose after the third course of treatment was obviously lower than that after the first course of treatment, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reaction, complications, total adverse reaction, and total complication between the two groups ( P>0.05). Conclusion:HBO as an auxiliary treatment for the sudden deafness patients due to type 2 diabetes can reduce the inflammatory response and stress response, reduce blood glucose level, improve the clinical efficacy and has high safety, which is worth of clinical application.
