Abstract: As a large maritime power, China faces multiple and complex maritime rights, interests and security issues, which have raised the importance of safeguarding its maritime rights and interests. It is essential to strengthen the maritime search and rescue (SAR) system and improve the capability of maritime SAR. Based on the characteristics of SAR, this article summarized the current status of maritime SAR system in China and analyzed its shortcomings. The article also put forward some suggestions on strengthening the system, which can provide a theoretical reference for improving the buildup of maritime SAR system in China.
