Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the application value of production-oriented approach (POA) teaching combined with individualized teaching in the training of scientific research liaison officers in surgical nursing. Methods A total of 58 scientific research liaison officers from 21 departments in the department of surgery at Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital (Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences),Southern Medical University were selected as the study subjects from January 2022 to December 2023. They received training based on POA teaching combined with individualized teaching. Specific methods included:① Establishing a surgical nursing research team consisting of 1 lead supervisor,2 secretaries, and department head nurses as mentors. Nurses with a master's degree in surgery and relevant experience were appointed as assistant mentors. One scientific research liaison officer was selected to participate in literature sharing and assist with departmental research tasks under the guidance of the district head nurse.② Developing a teaching plan:First,a variety of methods were used to assess the current research capabilities of the research liaison officers. The liaison team then designed a "semi-structured interview outline" to survey the training needs and suggestions of the liaison officers. Finally, the mentor dynamically adjusts the training objectives, training content, training time, training methods, etc. based on the survey results, training objectives, and learners' learning progress. ③ Collaborative teaching:the POA teaching method, consisting of 3 stages, motivation, facilitation, and evaluation, was combined with individualized teaching to develop a new model for training the research capabilities of nursing staff. A survey designed by hospital research mentors was used to assess the satisfaction, research capabilities, and research project application rates of the research liaison officers before and after the training. Results Compared to the training before the intervention, the post-training satisfaction with the course content, methods, progress, time arrangement, feedback and adjustment,as well as the scores in research theory, research practice, mentor evaluation,self-evaluation,peer evaluation, and total research capacity were significantly improved[satisfaction score:course content was 87.28±6.81 vs. 78.46±6.32,methods was 91.45±6.60 vs. 77.12±5.74,progress was 89.46±5.31 vs. 75.47±5.83,time arrangement was 86.08±6.52 vs. 72.56±7.43,feedback and adjustment was 83.49±7.03 vs. 73.72±6.21;research capacity scores:research theory was 17.87±1.62 vs. 13.45±3.68,research practice was 16.43±2.35 vs. 11.57±2.14,mentor evaluation was 16.78±2.19 vs. 12.35±2.45,self-evaluation was 17.84±1.35 vs. 11.21±2.30,peer evaluation was 17.02±2.26 vs. 12.59±3.45,and total score was 85.94±6.37 vs. 61.17±5.28,all P<0.05]. Additionally, the paper output rate,in-hospital project application rate, fund application rate, and patent application rate all significantly increased[paper output rate:53.45% (31/58) vs. 27.59% (16/58);in-hospital project application rate:28.57% (6/21) vs. 4.76% (1/21);fund application rate:33.33% (7/21) vs. 4.76% (1/21);patent application rate:38.10% (8/21) vs. 9.52% (2/21),all P<0.05]. Conclusion The application of POA teaching combined with individualized teaching in the training of scientific research liaison officers in surgical nursing can enhance the research capabilities of nursing staff and increase research output.
