Abstract:
Frailty,as a clinical syndrome closely associated with age, presents mainly with a reduced reserve of multiple physiological systems,as well as a significant reduction in tolerance to stressors and resistance to stress.Debilitating people often show reduced physical function, reduced activity, and impaired cognitive and social functions.Frailty status is particularly common in elderly patients with colorectal cancer.Frailty can reduce the ability to take care of themselves, increase the risk of adverse events such as cognitive impairment, disability, fall, and death, and then affect the surgical prognosis of patients. This article aims to elucidate the research progress on the impact of frailty on the prognosis of elderly colorectal cancer surgical patients, including the concept of frailty, its pathogenesis, assessment tools, and its effects on surgical outcomes.Additionally,it will cover interventions that can be used for frailty patients undergoing surgery for colorectal cancer. The goal is to provide clinical guidance for developing standardized frailty intervention programs to improve surgical outcomes in elderly colorectal cancer patients.
