Abstract:
Objective:To analyze the drug consumption of the hospital main platform providing medical service in 4 South Pacific island countries in Mission Harmony 2018, so as to provide a reference for the medicine support in future medical service.Methods:A retrospective statistical analysis was carried out on the drug consumption of the hospital ship main platform providing medical service in 4 South Pacific island countries in Mission Harmony 2018. The records of drug dispensing of the hospital main platform providing medical service in 4 South Pacific island countries were retrieved from the electronic prescription and drug dispensing system. After classifying all the onboard carried and prepared drugs according to their pharmacologic actions and modes of administration, the consumption volume of each drug was gained.Results:The number of drug types and the total cost of drugs in each country were as follows: 146 types and 34 025.93 RMB in Papua New Guinea; 140 types and 30 811.54 RMB in Vanuatu; 125 types and 44 192.44 RMB in Fiji; and 141 types and 45 926.69 RMB in Tonga. In the medical services provided by the hospital ship main platform in 4 South Pacific island countries, the departments of orthopedics, ophthalmology, stomatology, dermatology and gastroenterology consumed large volumes of drugs. The compound antipyretic and analgesic drugs were ranked at the top, including 8 types of drugs.Conclusion:The drug consumption is closely related to the situation of the host country. The drug preparation should take into consideration the local drug using policy, local disease spectrum, local people′s needs, medical service plan, and the drug consumption in the previous similar countries.
