Abstract:
China Medical University is the earliest medical institution founded by the Communist Party of China. Its predecessor, the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army Medical School, was established in Ruijin, Jiangxi Province, in 1931. It is one of the pioneers of Western medical education in China and is renowned as the "Cradle of Red Doctors". The Department of Plastic Surgery at the First Hospital of China Medical University is a national key clinical specialty, integrating medical treatment, teaching, and research. It ranks among the leading institutions in China in the fields of reconstructive surgery and cosmetic plastic surgery. Adhering to the university motto of "Political Firmness and Technical Excellence", the department has trained over a hundred doctoral and master’s students and established the only postdoctoral research station in plastic surgery in Liaoning Province. The team focuses on research into pathological scars, adipose-derived stem cells, and the development of biomaterials, undertaking multiple national and provincial-level research projects. Additionally, the department actively contributes to the establishment of industry standards, public welfare treatments, and physician training, demonstrating significant influence in the field.
