- Abstract: Health guidance on lifestyle-related diseases for young workers under 40 years old, who are not subject to specified medical checkups and specified health guidance, is important for the prevention of lifestyle-related diseases and the optimization of medical costs in the future. Therefore, the center developed a prototype of an online lifestyle-related disease prevention program for young workers under 40 years of age and implemented it between October 2020 and March 2021. In prototyping the program, we used the results of a narrative review of searches conducted using the Ichushi-Web using the keywords “young”, “obesity”, “health guidance”, and “workplace/work area”. A total of 114 participants in the program, both in the workplace and individually, participated in the study. The intervention lasted 12 weeks and consisted of 1) face-to-face motivational support at the beginning of the program, 2) email encouragement from the research team at weeks 4 and 6, and a total of 4 occasions at weeks 3, 5, 7, and 9 to work on a task named “Mission” that was intended to be fun and keep them motivated, and 3) 12 weeks of self-monitoring using IoT during the intervention period. Through this program, about half of the men and about one-fifth of the women showed weight loss of 1 kg or more. It was suggested that three factors were responsible for this: self-monitoring of the program, the game-like component of the mission, and peer support.
