Abstract:
The red medicine doctor culture constitutes a cultural form of red doctor education, belonging to the red doctor culture system and interconnecting with the components of red doctor culture. It is the concretization and interpretation of red doctor culture in the context of medical education, and represents a collection of the revolutionary, medical, and educational culture. Red doctor education culture has gone through the pioneering exploration during the revolutionary period, the institutional formation in the early stage of New China, the rectification and leap in the new era of reform and opening-up, and the innovative progress in the new era, demonstrating tenacious vitality and enormous value. This culture creatively answers questions in medical education, such as for whom it is conducted, what it should encompass, and how it should be implemented. Its accumulated educational philosophy, revolutionary spirit, practical experience, and pedagogical wisdom inspire red doctor education in the new era to highlight the political color of medical and health education, strengthen the educational purpose of serving the people’s health and wellness, and emphasize the guiding role of ideological theory on professional education. While building a red doctor education with Chinese localized characteristics, it should also inclusively absorb the outstanding medical cultural achievements of all ethnic groups.
