Abstract:
This paper evaluated the propagation and implementation of " Vector Density Control Level for Mosquitoes"(GB/ T 27771-2011 ) sponsored by Chinese officials. A sample questionnaire survey was conducted to collect the information of the propagation and implementation of mosquito control standards by the Patriotic Health Campaign Committee (PHCC), Center for Disease Control and Prevention ( CDC) and Pest Control Operation ( PCO) in Hubei, Shaanxi, Guangdong and Yunnan provinces. The survey results show that among the units in the four provinces, 98. 19% of the three types of institutions surveyed are generally aware of the standard. Among them, 89. 20% aware completely and most of the terms of the "standard"; 78. 50% had received formal training for "standard" and 67. 52% had organized trainings for the"standard". About 90. 42% of the above have applied the "standard" in vector control. The "standard" mainly used for the establishment of health cities or health counties (92. 78%) and attainment of vector control standards (79. 59%). The main measures taken by the Patriotic Health agency and CDC to implement " standard" are to formulate strategies and technical programs (84. 17%~86. 96%) and organize propagation and training (79. 14%~68. 12%), while PCO mainly focuses on increasing the skill operators for vector control ( 78. 18%) and formulating strategies and technical programs ( 71. 82%). The agencies believed that the application of the " standards" would achieved the following results: ( 1) establishment for long-term management mechanism ( 79. 44%), ( 2) precise and effective control for vector and vector borne diseases ( 74. 07%), (3) improvement of the quality of PCO services(63. 32%). The expects for the "standard" mainly lies on (1) more precise and practical " standard" definitions, ( 2) more practical skills for the " standard", ( 3) more feedback channels for the implementation of the "standard".
