Abstract:
To clarify the life history and season variation of Simulium maculatum in the lower Irtysh River in Xinjiang province and provide a scientific basis for the comprehensive prevention and control technology,Simulium maculatum was investigated at Kiziluyingki area in 2013,the lower reach of Irtysh area in Xinjiang,to analyze their breed sites,and life history and season dynamics.There are two generations of S.maculatum at Kiziluyingki area each year,the first generations of adult occur from early June to early August,and the second from late June to late September.The elder larvae began to overwinter from early September by hiding under the weeds and river floats.The high density of S.maculatum appeared and also cause serious harass to local residencies in July.
