Abstract:
To describe the medical and veterinary importance of ectoparasites in Dremomys pernyi, the ecoparasites of 65 Dremomys pernyi were studied in the surrounding areas of Erhai Lake in Yunnan province by Mann-Whitney U-tests and Spearman correlation analysis from 2003 to 2004. The results showed a high proportion (95%) of 62 Dremomys pernyi was found to be infested with ectoparasites. A total of 52 species of ectoparasite, including 31 species of chigger mite, 11 species of mesostigmatid (gamasid) mite, 2 species of flea and 8 species of sucking louse were collected. Within this ectoparasite complex, 7 species have previously been reported to be vectors of human disease agents.
