Relationships between serum γ-glutamyltransferase and metabolic syndrome and serum uric acid in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease

Abstract:
Objective To investigate the relationships between serum γ-glutamyltransferase(γ-GT)and metabolic syndrome(MS)and serum uric acid(UA)in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Methods According to the initial blood biochemical test results,161 patients with NAFLD were divided into high γ-GT group and normal γ-GT group.The demographic characteristics,serum UA and MS related biochemical indexes of the two groups were analyzed.Results Systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP),serum UA,triglyceride(TG),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C/HDL-C),fasting plasma glucose(FPG)and glycosylated albumin(GSA)in the high γ-GT group were significantly higher than those in the normal γ-GT group(all P<0.05).Chi-square analysis showed that γ-GT was significantly increased in patients with hyperuricemia and elevated MS related biochemical indexes(all P<0.05).After further control of age and gender,serum γ-GT level was positively correlated with UA and MS components(except HDL-C)(P<0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that serum UA level and the number of MS components were closely related to serum γ-GT in patients with NAFLD(P<0.05).Conclusion The increase of serum γ-GT is closely related to the increased risk of MS and hyperuricemia in NAFLD patients.
