Abstract:
Objective To investigate changes of bone mineral density(BMD)in elderly men with diabetic nephropathy and its relationship with certain clinical biochemical indexes. Methods Bone mineral density was detected with dual-energy X-ray absorpti-ometry in 129 patients with diabetes mellitus, including 85 in the normal albuminuria group,29 in the minute albuminuria group,15 in the mass albuminuria group and 45 in the normal control group.BMD levels of lumbar spine(L2-4),femoral neck, greater trochanter (torch)and the ward triangle were detected, and clinical and biochemical data were collected for further analysis. Results The carotid femoral T values in the patients of the 3 groups were respectively -1.06 ±1.07, -0.77 ±1.01 4 and -2.18 ±1.01.The BMD value in the mass albuminuria group was significantly lower than that in the other groups, and the incidence of osteoporosis was higher than that of the other groups, and statistical significance could be noted when comparisons were made between them(P<0.05).As com-pared with those of the normal control group, the levels of serum calcium and hemoglobin in the mass albuminuria group were signifi -cantly lower, also with statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion Bone mineral density n those elderly male patients with diabet-ic nephropathy decreased obviously and the incidence of osteoporosis also increased, which might be associated with the increase of ser-um calcium and HbA1c.
