Survey of self-management compliance in 67 bus drivers with diabetes mellitus and related health management measures

Abstract:
Objective To investigate medical order compliance outside hospital among the bus drivers with diabetes mellitus , so as to provide evidence for targeted health management .Methods Sixty-seven bus drivers with type 2 diabetes chosen from annual health examinees were used as research subjects .Results The incidence of type 2 diabetes among the bus drivers was 14.79%, and the rate of good self-management was 43.28%.There was no statistical significance , when comparisons were made between different age groups(P>0.05).The fasting blood glucose level and the glucose level 2 hours after meal [(8.11 ±1.36),(9.28 ±0.52) mmol/L] in the drivers with good self-management compliance was considerably better than those with poor compliance [(11.32 ±1.63),(13.41 ± 0.91) mmol/L], and statistical significance could be noted , when comparisons were made between them (P<0.05).Conclusion Self-management compliance outside hospital among the bus drivers demands further improvement , and efforts should be made on the part of bus drivers to adopt conscientiously healthy life style , eliminate or overcome those risk factors affecting health .
