Abstract:
Objective To investigate the features and pattern of otorhinolaryngology diseases among the ship crew during es -cort in the Gulf of Aden , so as to provide evidence for better medical support in future escort missions .Methods Retrospective analy-sis was made on the medical records of clinical and emergency medical care by the medical post aboard a certain escort ship during the escort mission in the Gulf of Aden .The distribution features and pattern of otorhinolaryngology diseases among the ship crew were sum -marized.Results Diagnoses of 167 case-times were included in the statistical analysis .The top 5 diseases in the disease spectrum were chronic pharyngitis, acute upper respiratory tract infection , acute suppurative tonsillitis, allergic rhinitis, acute otitis externa, which ac-counted for 86.83%of the total cases .Other otorhinolaryngology diseases were of sporadic nature .Conclusion The incidence otorhin-olaryngology diseases among the ship crew during escort might be closely associated with the ship environment , the daily life activities during prolonged deployment , fitness of individuals and personal experience of prolonged deployment at sea .At the same time, the man-ning of medical personnel and medical supplies should conform to the distribution pattern of diseases during escort .
