Abstract:
Objective To study the need and provision of the mental health service in a certain unit of the Armed Police . Methods A multi-stage stratified cluster sampling survey was made on the 623 officers and soldiers in a certain unit of the Armed Po-lice.The medical data covered a wide range of topics , such as mental health status , psychological stress sustained in recent month , cause of psychological stress , methods of releasing stress , frequency of psychological counseling and reasons for psychological counse -ling.Results 32.26%of the officers and soldiers experienced moderate or severe physical pain /discomfort, and 19.9% of them had moderate or severe anxiety/depression.18.87% of them experienced severe or high psychological stress in the recent month , and 66.77% of them did not seek for psychological counseling .Conclusion Study results indicated that there was great demand for mental health service among the Armed Police force , but with low provision .Further efforts are demanded on the part of relevant administration concerning mental health service to develop related policies , adjust propaganda and education programs , and at the same time , take full advantage of the established platforms for mental health .
