Abstract:
Regulatory T (Treg) cells are essential for maintaining immune tolerance, and the decreased numbers or dysfunction of these cells can lead to autoimmune diseases (AIDs). Clinical trials have proven that adoptive Treg cells therapy can relieve AIDs. Advancements in chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) technology have prompted the expansion of Treg cells for adoptive Treg cells therapy, thereby generating CAR-Treg cells and providing a novel therapeutic strategy for AIDs. In this review, the structure, functions, preparation methods, mechanisms, and applications in seven common AIDs of CAR-Treg cells were summarized, and the future development direction was prospected.
