Abstract:
With the advancement of medical diagnostic technology，significant progress has been achieved in umbilical cord blood testing. Compared with peripheral blood testing，umbilical cord blood testing is more suitable for widespread clinical application due to its advantages such as enabling early diagnosis，being non-invasive，and allowing easy collection. As a component of the fetal circulation，umbilical cord blood is closely associated with intrauterine conditions and perinatal events. Recognized as a critical biological specimen during the perinatal period，it contains abundant functional proteins，cytokines，and molecular biomarkers. Recent studies have shown that umbilical cord blood testing can effectively predict and assist in the diagnosis of various diseases，including hemolytic disease of newborns，neonatal infection，bronchopulmonary dysplasia，retinopathy of prematurity，and neonatal brain injury. This review summarizes the clinical utility of umbilical cord blood testing in neonatal diseases，with the aim of providing reference for early diagnosis，condition monitoring，and therapeutic management.
