Abstract:
People are increasingly concerned about their appearance nowadays, and medical cosmetic surgery has also gained a significant position in contemporary society due to the growing demand. While bringing about “beauty,” medical cosmetic surgery also conceals certain social risks. They are mainly manifested in the following two aspects. Firstly, it is easy to lead to the homogenization of aesthetic dimensions, causing the loss of diversity in “beauty” and creating a “one-dimensional person.” Secondly, it is highly prone to fall into the authoritarianism of “beauty,” which can further endanger social fairness and justice. Zhuangzi’s thinking on “beauty” helps to mitigate the social risks brought about by medical cosmetic surgery and enables us to rediscover the diversity of “beauty.” It can also promote personal comprehensive development and maintain social fairness and justice by achieving the unity of “beauty” and “goodness”.
