Abstract:
Conventional treatment strategies for pancreatic cancer are often resistant, showing the need for personalized precision treatment. Cancer vaccines have emerged as a promising alternative to pancreatic cancer treatment because of their multiple advantages, including multi-targeting, low toxicity and induction of long-lasting immune memory. Several conventional vaccines against pancreatic cancer have been developed. However, their overall efficacy is still unsatisfactory. Compared to the conventional vaccines, mRNA-based vaccines offer a technological and conceptual advance in personalized precision therapy and therefore represent a potential novel treatment option for pancreatic cancer. This review discusses the current research progress of pancreatic cancer vaccines, emphasizes the superiority of mRNA vaccines over conventional vaccines, and summarizes the feasibility of designing and applying personalized mRNA vaccines for precision treatment of pancreatic cancer.
