Abstract:
Objective:To explore the influencing factors for suffering from malignant tumors in people aged ≥45 years in China. Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted. Based on data of China Health and Retirement Follow-up Survey (CHARLS) in 2020, univarite analysis of the influencing factors for suffering from malignant tumors in people aged ≥45 years was performed. Logistic regression model under complex sampling was used to perform multivariate analysis. Results:In 2020 CHARLS data, there were 15 923 middle-aged and elderly people aged ≥45 years, and the age of them was (64±10) years old, ranging from 45.0 to 120.5 years old, including 7 473 males (46.93%) and 8 450 females (53.07%), of which 451 (2.83%) people had malignant tumors. The differences in age, gender, urban and rural distribution, noon sleep time, physical activity score, low-intensity physical activity, cancer comorbidity, non-tumor chronic diseases, self-rated health status, social interaction and alcohol consumption between middle-aged and elderly people aged ≥45 years with and without malignant tumors were statistically significant (all P < 0.05). However, the differences in night sleep time, whole day sleep time, moderate-to-vigorous physical activity, social activity, marital status, education level, household registration, pension and medical insurance, and smoking status were not statistically significant (all P > 0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis of complex sampling showed that old age ( OR = 1.033, 95% CI: 1.001-1.067, P = 0.042) and bed self-rated health status (very bad vs. not good vs. average vs. good vs. very good: OR = 1.710, 95% CI: 1.183-2.471, P = 0.004) were the independent risk factors for suffering from malignant tumors in Chinese people aged ≥45 years. Conclusions:Based on the 2020 CHARLS data, much attention should be paid to aging and own feelings of middle-aged and elderly people, which may reduce the risk of suffering from malignant tumors among middle-aged and elderly people aged ≥45 years in China.
