Abstract: CHEN Shiduo's Bian Zheng Lu(Differentiation of Syndromes)fully expounds the etiology and pathogenesis of psy-chogenic impotence and the system of therapeutic prescriptions with the cases of successful heart-based treatment of the disease.Aging-related decline,excessive attention,indulgence-induced damage to essence,and mental frustration are the main causes of psychogenic impotence,and heart-fire deficiency and heart-qi stagnation are primarily involved in its two pathological types of deficiency and ex-cess.The chief therapies for psychogenic impotence have fixed combinations to nourish heart-qi,promote heart-will,assist kidney-toni-fication and communicate the heart and kidney.CHEN's theory plays an important enlightening role in contemporary clinical and scien-tific research,his therapeutic prescriptions have been widely verified from bed to bench,and his unique system of heart-based treat-ment of impotence is proved of scientificity and advanced nature.
