Abstract:
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a complex disease characterized by insulin resistance, decreased β cell mass and dysfunction. Cell senescence refers to the permanent proliferation arrest of cells in response to various stress stimuli. This review summarizes the research progress on pancreatic islet β cell senescence and type 2 diabetes, aiming to provide a deeper understanding of the mechanisms underlying β cell senescence, β cell dysfunction in type 2 diabetes, and related therapeutic strategies.
