Abstract:
Ankle microinstability results from an isolated injury to the superior fascicle of the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) following an ankle sprain. Injury to the superior fasciculus of the ATFL increases internal rotation of the talus within the ankle cavity, which in turn leads to ankle microinstability. Its diagnosis is challenging due to atypical clinical presentations. This paper further analyzes the pathological mechanisms, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, injury varieties, conservative and surgical treatment methods of ankle joint microinstability to provide clinical guidance for its diagnosis and treatment.
