Abstract:
Objective:To explore the hotspots and trends on the intrinsic capacity of the elderly, so as to provide research directions for promoting healthy aging. Methods:Literature related to the intrinsic capacity of the elderly was searched in the Web of Science core collection database and China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and the search period was from January 2015 to April 2023. CiteSpace software was used to conduct quantitative analysis on the included literature, and the trends and hotspots were analyzed, including annual publication volume, country, author, institution, co-cited journals, keyword clustering and emergence. Results:A total of 536 English articles and 38 Chinese articles were included. The overall number of publications was on the rise year by year, and there were some cooperations between research institutions and authors in various countries. The hotspots mainly revolved around the measurement, risk factor identification, predictive performance for adverse outcomes and interventions of intrinsic capacity. The trend mainly focused on the relationship between intrinsic capacity and adverse outcomes, the effect of education on intrinsic capacity. Conclusions:The number of studies on the intrinsic capacity of the elderly is increasing year by year, and cooperation between national institutions and scholars needs to be strengthened. Researchers have conducted some research on measuring intrinsic capacity, identifying risk factors, determining the predictive performance of intrinsic capacity for adverse outcomes and exploring the effectiveness of intervention programs. It is recommended that scholars further explore the relationship between intrinsic capacity and adverse outcomes, and construct effective intervention programs to improve the intrinsic capacity of the elderly, providing reference for promoting healthy aging.
