Abstract:
Objective:By analysing the conceptual components, attributes, prerequisites, outcomes, positive and negative case studies of skin breakdown, the components of the skin breakdown concept are sorted out, and the distinction between skin breakdown and stress injuries is made, so as to provide a reference for nursing practitioners to be able to effectively identify skin breakdown and develop nursing interventions. Methods:Systematic searches was undertaken in domestic and international databases including CNKI, Wanfang, SinoMed, Embase, and OVID. The Walker and Avant method of conceptual analysis furnished the analytical framework for the discussion. Results:A total of 51 pieces of literature were included, providing insights into seven aspects, including conceptual attributes, positive and negative cases, and antecedents. The application of the concepts in the clinical setting was clarified and explored in depth to summarise the assessment of the disease, the factors influencing it, and its differentiation from stress injuries. Conclusions:Clarifying the concept of skin failure assists nursing staff in adeptly identifying skin failure, fostering proactive foresight in strategizing nursing interventions, and enhancing patient-centric medical treatment and rescue efforts.
