Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the incidence of dysphagia in the elderly in the integrated medical and nursing service institution for the aged and analyze its influencing factors. Methods:From January to March 2022, 475 elderly people from an integrated medical and nursing service institution for the aged in Chengdu were selected as the research subject by convenience sampling. The elderly were investigated with self-designed General Information Questionnaire, Standardized Swallowing Assessment (SSA) and Barthel Index. Binomial Logistic regression was used to explore the influencing factors of dysphagia in the elderly. Results:The incidence of dysphagia in 475 elderly people was 76.84% (365/475) . Binomial Logistic regression showed that stroke, constipation, sputum suction history within one year and decreased self-care ability were the risk factors of dysphagia for the elderly in the integrated medical and nursing service institution for the aged ( P<0.05) . Conclusions:There is a high incidence of dysphagia among the elderly in integrated medical and nursing service institutions for the aged. Relevant departments should pay more attention to the swallowing function of the elderly in integrated medical and nursing service institutions for the aged, and formulate targeted measures from prevention, assessment, rehabilitation and other aspects to reduce the occurrence of dysphagia of the elderly.
