Abstract:
Objective:To explore the effects of the formative evaluation method of mini-clinical evaluation exercise (Mini-CEX) combined with Direct Observation of Procedural Skills (DOPS) in the standardized training of new nurses. Methods:Convenience sampling method was used to select 65 new nurses in a ClassⅢ Grade A hospital in August 2017 as the research object. The "Mini-CEX and DOPS Evaluation Manual" was distributed during pre-job training. Clinical teachers used the Mini-CEX and DOPS to evaluate the clinical nursing ability of new nurses at the prescribed frequency within one year. Results:A total of 54 new nurses evaluation manuals were retrieved in September 2018.The clinical abilities of Mini-CEX of new nurses improved within the first year of employment with statistical differences ( P<0.01) . In the first year of employment, the scores of two items of DOPS on the mastery of relevant knowledge and overall performance evaluation of new nurses improved, and the differences were statistically significant ( P<0.01) . Conclusions:The formative evaluation model of Mini-CEX combined with DOPS helps to improve the comprehensive clinical ability of new nurses with a short time, which is worthy of wide clinical promotion.
