Abstract:
Objective To understand the status quo of the nurses′ perception of their practice environment and the conflict between work and family, and to explore the influencing factors of the conflict, so as to provide references for nursing managers to alleviate the work-family conflict of the operating room nurses. Methods From October to November in 2016,a total of 190 operating room nurses from 4 hospitals in Qingdao Shandong Province were selected by purposive sampling method and investigated with a general information questionnaire, the practice environment scale of the nursing work index (PES-NWI) and the work family conflict scale. The content of the investigation included the perception of nursing practice environment and the conflict between work and family of operating nurses. The stratified multivariate regression analysis was used to explore the factors affecting the work-family conflict. Results The total score of operating room nurses′perception of the nursing practice environment was (95.48±6.34),and the mean score was (3.08±0.44). The total score of the work-family conflict was (56.67±4.56),and the mean score was (3.15±0.48). The differences of work-family conflict score among nurses with different ages, working years, professional titles, the number of monthly night shifts, marital status and daily working time were statistically significant (P< 0.05). Additionally, the difference of work-family conflict among nurses in different levels of hospitals was statistically significant (P<0.05). The number of night shifts per month and the perception of nursing practice environment are the main factors influencing the work-family conflict. 40.0% of work-family conflicts can be predicted jointly by four dimensions of the nursing administrators′ ability and leading style, the doctor-nurse cooperation, the sufficient of human and material resources and nurses′ participating in hospital affairs in nursing practice environment. Conclusions The operating room nurses consider that the nursing practice environment of operating room is above the moderate level, and the work-family conflict is at the moderate level. The nurses′ perception of nursing practice environment is the main factor affecting the work-family conflict. Nursing managers should pay attention to the creation of optimal nursing practice environment and improve the recognition of it,so as to effectively alleviate the conflict between work and family.
