Abstract: Abnormal calcification of cartilage is the main pathological characteristic of osteoarthritis(OA).Temporomandibular joint(TMJ)is a predilection site of OA(JMJ OA).The abnormal calcification of cartilage is the main feature of TMJ OA and may result in mal-formation,dysfunction and pain of TMJ of the patients with JMJ OA.This paper introduces the research progress of OA,TMJ OA,espeially the abnormal calcification of cartilage in TMJ and its mechanism in order to provide a reference for the treatment of TMJ OA.
