Survey of emergency response knowledge and training needs of non-medical college students in Xi'an city

Abstract: Objective To investigate the cognition on emergency response knowledge and training needs of non-medical college students in Xi'an, and provide a theoretical basis to carry out targeted training. Methods With the method of convenient sampling, self-designed questionnaire was used to survey o302 non-medical college students in a university in June 29, 2016 in Xi'an.Results 42.1% students had experienced emergency event with emergency response knowledge score (16.3±3.1) compared (15.4±3.0) of no experience students. 55.6% people had involved in emergency response training acquired score (16.4±2.8) for response knowledge while no training students acquired the score (15.0±3.2) (t=2.734, 3.886;P<0.05). Conclusions The cognition on emergency response knowledge of non-medical college students is low, and the will to participate in training is strong. It is necessary to take various forms such as lecture and live demonstration to improve the knowledge and skills of college students coping with the emergency.
