Abstract:
With increasing antibiotic resistance among important gram-negative bacteria and the limited development for new antimicrobial agents,there is resurgence in the clinical use of polymyxins,including polymyxin B and polymyxin E.They has demonstrated excellent activity against various Gram-negative bacteria in vitro with complicated and deficient clinical data of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics.This article summarizes polymyxin B and polymyxin E of chemical structure,mechanism,antimicrobial activity,clinical use and toxic effects to provide references for clinical application.
