Objective To analyze the relation between the CT changes of ventricular volume and prognosis in newborn of perinatal hypoxic-ischemic brain damage.Methods From Jan. 2002 to Dec. 2006, 105 newborns with perinatal hypoxic-ischemic brain damage (moderate to severe) were divided into 2 groups (group A with nervous system sequel and group B without nervous system sequal). Brain CT was performed in 24 hours after admission in all cases and at 1 and 3-month time point in some cases according to their convalescence condition. Sponge Dysidea avara-associated bacteria were isolated by dilution-plate method and the bacterial anti-microbial activities were screened for Escherichia coli,Staphylococcus aureu, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Bacillus subtilis,Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans,Pacecilomyces variotii by agar diffusion method.At the same time, morphology observations, biochemical and physiological identification of active strains were made. In this paper, 149 strains were isolated from sponge Dysidea avara.20 strains, which amount to 13.4% of the total isolated strains, were found to have anti-microbial activity against fungi and gram-positive bacteria and were identified to be the genus Bacillus sp.

Objective To analyze the clinical features and causes of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(BPPV).Methods The clinical data of 521 patients with BPPV were collected.The percentage of patients with BPPV in all the outpatients with dizziness and vertigo,the clinical characteristics of BPPV,and the prevalence of comorbidity with migraine were analyzed.Results BPPV accounted for 35.7% of patients with vertigo and 12.1% of patients with dizziness.Among the 521 patients with BPPV,158(30.3%)were male and 363(69.7%)were female,with an average age of(57.5?12.8)years old(20 to 93 years old).Right semicircular canals were involved in 323 cases(62.0%),and left semicircular canals in 187 cases(35.9%).The latency period of nystagmus of vertical canals was(3.22?2.37)s,and time of persistence was(8.31?7.98)s.The latency period of nystagmus of horizontal canals was(2.33?1.50)s,and the time of persistence was(14.77?11.40)s.There were significant differences in the latency period of nystagmus and time of persistence between the vertical and horizontal canals(P=0.001 and P=0.000).Fifteen patients(2.9%)had a history of head trauma and 39(7.5%)were complicated with migraine.Conclusion BPPV is prevalent in patients with dizziness and vertigo,and misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis should be avoided.

Objective To explore the application effect of self-developed strait jacket in mental patients.Methods A total of 200 mental patients meeting indications for protective restraint were selected from a tertiary first-class psychiatric hospital using convenience sampling,and were restrained using self-developed strait jackets,application effects and numbers of adverse events occurring during restraint were observed;patients' satisfaction with restraint tools was investigated as well.Results Cases of adverse events occurring during protective restraint were:3 patients developed dysaemia (1.50％),3 had self-injury (1.50％),4 were injured by others (2.00％),5 developed skin scratching (2.50％),7 threw off restraint by themselves (3.50％),13 presented violent and aggressive behaviors (6.50％),and no patient developed swelling of limbs.According to satisfaction survey,71.00％ of the patients demonstrated acceptance of this restraint tool,76.50％ felt comfortable,83.50％ held that this strait jacket could meet the needs of free activities,76.00％ felt safe,and satisfaction to body strait jacket came to 83.00％.Conclusion The manufacture of body strait jacket is simple and it is comfortable to wear,patient's compliance is high,and restraint effect is satisfactory;this body strait jacket reduces the incidence of adverse events,and improve patient's satisfaction to restraint tool.

BACKGROUND:Due to the differences of sport events and individual metabolic characteristics of athletes, it is difficult to establish uniform biological indexes for training monitoring. Current individual evaluation is a longitudinal analysis relying on experience or numerical variation width, which is less objective.OBJECTIVE: To explore the individual function assessment and monitoring by monitoring blood biochemical indexes and brain function indexes in elite gymnasts, in order to accurately reflect the body changes resulting from training loads. METHODS:Thirty gymnasts from the Chinese national gymnastics team preparing for London Olympic Games were enroled in this study and monitored from the last winter training until the London Olympic Games. The blood biochemical indicators and brain function indicators were measured and assessed individually according to according to the principle of quality control (alert value=mean±SD, and controled variable=mean±2SD). RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Under the relatively uniform test conditions, it is feasible to individualy assess the blood biochemical and brain function indexes of elite gymnasts in accordance with the principle of quality control, which is more accurate and objective to reflect the body changes under training load and the current state of athletes. In addition, the combined monitoring of blood biochemical indexes and brain function indexes is more comprehensive to evaluate the body function and status of elite gymnasts.
