International Journal of Pediatrics 2021;48(5):349-352
With the nationwide popularization of neonatal heel blood screening, and the change of screening standards and the improvement of premature infant survival rate, the incidence of congenital hypothyroidism in newborns has been increasing year by year. Some of these children need to take medication for all lifetime to maintain normal thyroid function, this is called persistent congenital hypothyroidism, while others don′t, is called transient congenital hypothyroidism.Causes of transient hypothyroidism include iodine deficiency, maternal thyrotrophin receptor blocker antibodies, maternal antithyroid medication, maternal or neonatal iodine exposure, premature delivery, and neonatal hepatic hemangioma. In this review, the author describes the etiology and management of children with transient hypothyroidism, meanwhile summarize several predictors of transient hypothyroidism.
2.NEURAL NETWORK TRAINING WITH PARALLEL PARTICLE SWARM OPTIMIZER
Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis 2006;18(2):109-112
Objective To reduce the execution time of neural network training. Methods Parallel particle swarm optimization algorithm based on master-slave model is proposed to train radial basis function neural networks, which is implemented on a cluster using MPI libraries for inter-process communication. Results High speed-up factor is achieved and execution time is reduced greatly. On the other hand, the resulting neural network has good classification accuracy not only on training sets but also on test sets. Conclusion Since the fitness evaluation is intensive, parallel particle swarm optimization shows great advantages to speed up neural network training.

Objective To investigate the changes in the expression of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), substance P (SP) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) and the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on morphine tolerance in rats with chronic inflammatory pain (CIP) and morphine tolerance. Methods Twenty-five 8-month-old male SD rats weighing 230-250 g in which intrathecal (IT)catheters were successfully implanted without complications were randomly divided into 5 groups ( n = 5 each):groupA CIP + normal saline (NS) 10 μl IT twice a day for 7 consecutive days; group B CIP + morphine 10 μg/kg ( 10 μl) IT twice for the first day only; group C CIP + morphine 10 μg/kg ( 10 μl) IT twice a day for 7 consecutive days; group D CIP + EA (intensity 2 mA, frequency 2 Hz, wave length 0.6 ms) + morphine 10 μ g/kg (10 μl) IT twice a day for7 consecutive days; group E CIP + EA (intensity 2 mA, frequency 15 Hz,wave length 0.4 ms) + morphine 10μg/kg (10 μl) IT twice a day for7 consecutive days. CIP was induced by injecting complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA) into the ankle joint of the left hindlimb. IT morphine or NS was started on the 4th day after induction of CIP. EA of Yanglingquan and Zusanli lasting 30 min was performed once a day after first IT administration of morphine for 7 days. Paw withdrawal latency (PWL) to a thermal nociceptive stimulus was measured before induction of CIP, 1 day before (baseline) and at day 1-7 after administration (T0-8) . The animals were sacrificed after the last PWL measurement. The DRGs of the lumbar segment (L4-6) were removed for determination of CGRP, SP and BDNF mRNA expression using RT-PCR. Results PWL was significantly shorter at T1 than at T0 in all groups, and at T3-8 than at T2 in group B-E, while longer at T2 than at T1 in group B-E ( P <0.05). PWL was significantly longer in group B-E and CGRP, SP and BDNF mRNA expression higher in group C than in group A ( P < 0.05). PWL was significantly longer in group C-E than in group B ( P < 0.05). PWL was significantly longer and CGRP, SP and BDNF mRNA expression lower in group D and E than in group C ( P <0.05). PWL was significantly lower and CGRP, SP and BDNF mRNA expression higher in group E than in group D ( P < 0.05). Conclusion Up-regulation of the expression of CGRP, SP and BDNF mRNA in DRG is involved in the devepopment of morphine tolerance. EA can inhibit the devepopment of morphine tolerance by inhibiting the expression of CGRP2 SP and BDNF mRNA.

Objective To investigate the effect of electro-acupuncture (EA) on vascular permeability in patients undergoing open-heart surgery with CPB. Methods Thirty-two NYHA class Ⅰ or Ⅱ and ASA class Ⅱ or Ⅲ patients with BMI of 19-28 kg/m2 undergoing open heart surgery with CPB were randomly divided into 2 groups ( n = 16 each): Ⅰ control group and Ⅱ acupuncture group . The patients were premedicated with intramuscular phenobarbital 0.1 g, pethidine 50 mg and scopolamine 0.3 mg. Anesthesia was induced with midazolam, propofol, fentanyl and vecuronium and maintained with TCI of propofol and fentanyl in both groups. The patients were acupuncture points (neiguan, lieque, yunmen) were selected for stimulation with stimulator. Acupuncture stimulation was started from 30 min before anesthesia induction and continued until the end of operation. The level of sedation was monitored by BIS and maintained at 40-60 during operation. Urinary microalbumin concentration was used as a parameter of vascular permeability, and was measured before and at the end of operation. Blood samples were taken 24 h before and 24 h after operation for measurement of ALT, AST, total bilirubin, BUN and Cr. Results The two groups were comparable with respect to sex ratio, age, body weight, ASA physical status, and preoperative ejection fraction. There was no significant difference in renal and liver function between the 2 groups.Postoperative urinary microalbumin concentration was significantly lower in acupuncture group than in control group. Conclusion Acupuncture can reduce the effect of open heart surgery performed under CPB on vascular permeability.

International Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2010;33(2):121-124
Under the condition of microgravity, human body will experience a series of cardiovascular deconditioning. The vascular endothelial cells are the most important component of the vessel wall, so the changes of biological characteristics of vascular endothelial cells are directly related to cardiovascular deconditioning. Therefore, it is important to prevent and treat the cardiovascular deconditioning in astronauts by studying the effect of microgravity on biological characteristics of vascular endothelial cells.
