Chinese Journal of General Practitioners 2011;10(4):265-267
Forty six children with Kawasaki disease (observer group) were classified as coronary artery lesions (CAL) subgroup (19 cases) and non-coronary artery lesions (NCAL) subgroup (27 cases)according to echocardiography; 50 healthy children served as control group.Serum heart-type fatty acidbinding protein (h-FABP), platelet activating factor (PAF), cardiac tropnin Ⅰ (cTnI) and creatine kinase isoenzyme MB (CK-MB) levels of all subjects were detected. The results showed that the h-FABP and cTnI levels and positive rate in observer group were higher those in control group (P < 0.05 ), while there were no differences in CK-MB level and positive rate between two groups ( P > 0.05 ).The h-FABP positive rate in observation group was higher than the positive rates of cTnI and CK-MB (P <0.05).The PAF level, PLT and polymorphonuclear neutrophil count in observer group were higher than those in control group ( P <0.05).The h-FABP and PAF levels in CAL subgroup were higher than those in NCAL subgroup (P <0.05).The results suggest that serum h-FABP and PAF can be used as diagnostic indicators for Kawasaki disease complicated with coronary artery lesions.

OBJECTIVETo establish a rat model of low calcium diet related hyperoxaluria and explore its features.
METHODSBy means of randomized blocks design, totally 24 SD male rats were divided into low calcium diet group, medium calcium diet group, and high calcium diet group. Each group was sequentially fed on different calcium diets for 3 days. The urinary volume within 24 hours was recorded, the consistency of urinary oxalate by high-efficiency liquid chromatography, and the consistency of urine creatinine by automatic biochemical analyzer. The consistency was corrected to the output of urinary oxalate of rats in 24 hours, and the results were evaluated by repeated measurement of variance analysis and multivariate analysis of variance.
RESULTSThe output of urinary oxalate of rats in 24 hours varied with time (F=7.893, P0.05). The output of urinary oxalate of rats in 24 hours varied with group division (F=3.565, P<0.05). The output of urinary oxalate in 24 hours in three groups on the third day was significantly higher than that on the first day (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONBy controlling the calcium intake, we successfully established the model of low calcium diet related hyperoxaluria in rat.

More and more studies have shown that NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome has become the regulatory factor of inflammatory response and protective immunity, and the assembly and activation of NLRP3 inflammasomes are closely related to the anti-tumor immunity effect. Depending on the cell type and stimuli, activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome can induce immune cells to become polarized, hyperactive, or pyroptotic, releasing interleukin (IL)-1

OBJECTIVETo research the effect of a complex prescription of Chinese crude drug with the function of strengthening body resistance and disintoxication disintoxication in patients with HCC of post-TACE.
METHOD45 patients with HCC of post-TACE, as the treatment group, were treated by a complex prescription of Chinese crude drug with the function of strengthening body resistance and disintoxication disintoxication and routine methods of protecting liver. Other 37 patients, as the control group, with the same clinical feature were treated by routine methods of protecting liver only. In the later 1 month, accumulated points of clinical symptom, hepatic function and AFP were observed in all of the patients. And the clinical effect of the two groups was compared.
RESULTOne week later, in the treatment group, there is no improvement in anorexia but nausea, abdominal distention and lassitude were improved more obviously than pretherapy in both a week and one month later (P < 0.01 or P <0.05). In the control group, anorexia were improved a week later (P <0.05), but there is no improvement in nausea, abdominal distention and lassitude at the same time, and one month later all of the indexes above improved (P <0.01 or P <0.05). Accumulated points of clinical symptom was decreased more obviously in the treatment group than in the control group in both a week and one month later (P <0.05). At the end of the therapy, in the both groups, ALT, TBIL and AFP all improved except ALB, (P <0.01 or P <0.05). And TBIL improved more obviously in the treatment group than in the control one month later (P <0.05).
CONCLUSIONThis complex prescription of Chinese crude drug can lighten the adverse reaction of post-TACE. And also it can promote the recovery of liver function and evaluate the quality of lives of such patients.

OBJECTIVETo research the treatment effect of complex prescription of Chinese crude drug in BALB/c athymic mice with human liver cancer, which were built by Bel-7402.
METHOD48 male BALB/c athymic mouse models were built by Bel-7402 with an indirect method. After 24 hours of postoperation, the 48 athymic mice were distributed randomly into 4 groups which were treated by intragastric administration with complex prescription of Chinese crude drug that had been deliquated into 3 groups by the different density as the low, middle, and high and FT207 (Tegafur) for 4 weeks. At last, athymic mice were put to death and PTEN was detected in hepatic tissue, latero-cancer tissue and cancer tissue by immunohistochemistry (PowerVision Two-Step Histostaining Reagent).
RESULTAll of the 48 athymic mice survived 12 to 28 days (Ms 24 days) and every mouse with liver cancer demonstrated by dissection. The result of immunohistochemistry represents that the intensity of PTEN in latero-cancer tissue is the highest, and then the hepatic tissue, the lowest is cancer tissue, P < 0.01. It also represents that the intensity of PTEN in treatment groups (A, B, C) is more higher than the control group (D), P < 0.05 or P < 0.01, and group B is the highest in the treatment groups, P < 0.05 or P < 0.01. However, there is no significant statistic difference between group A and group C.
CONCLUSIONThe higher expression of PTEN in the laterocancer tissue can represent the protective reaction of stress of the organism. And anticancer effect of this complex prescription of Chinese crude drug relates to an eligible density of it. Mechanisms of this complex prescription of Chinese crude drug healing HCC may partially be explained by enhancing the expression of PTEN in liver.

Massive hemorrhage from infected anastomosed site between the graft artery and the external iliac artery is one of the most serious complications of renal transplantation. Clinically, it is a rare but fatal occasion. We reported here one case of hemorrhage with infection in the iliac artery anastomosed site treated successfully with hypogastric artery autograft interposition in March 2003.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of rat Schwann cell secretion on the proliferation and differentiation of human embryonic neural stem cells (NSCs).
METHODSThe samples were divided into three groups. In Group One, NSCs were cultured in DMED/F12 in which Schwann cells had grown for one day. In Group Two, NSCs and Schwann cells were co-cultured. In Group Three, NSCs were cultured in DMEM/F12. The morphology of NSCs was checked and beta-tubulin, GalC, hoechst 33342 and GFAP labellings were detected.
RESULTSIn Group One, all neural spheres were attached to the bottom and differentiated. The majority of them were beta-tubulin positive while a few of cells were GFAP or GalC positive. In Group Two, neural spheres remained undifferentiated and their proliferation was inhibited in places where Schwann cells were robust. In places where there were few Schwann cells, NSCs performed in a similar manner as in Group One. In Group Three, the cell growth state deteriorated day after day. On the 7th day, most NSCs died.
CONCLUSIONThe secretion of rat Schwann cells has a growth supportive and differentiation-inducing effect on human NSCs.

Background and purpose:Cyclooxygenase-2 (Cyclooxygenase-2,COX-2) is an important rate-limiting enzyme that is responsible for transformation of arachidonic acid into prostaglandins(PGs).Although Helicobacter pylori(Hp) infection-induced gastric over-expression of COX-2 (COX-2) is an important factor of gastric cancer, the mechanism of COX-2 expression in gastric mucosa cells infected with Hp is still not clear. Our study was to reveal the effect of Hp on expression of COX-2(cyclooxygenase-2),the impact of p38MAPK signaling pathway in human gastric epithelial cancer cells line MKN45,and to investigate the potential mechanisms of expression of COX-2. Methods:The expression of COX-2 mRNA infection by standard Hp NCTC11637 in human gastric epithelial cancer cells line MKN45 was evaluated by real-time fluorogenic quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RFQ-PCR).The effect of infection by Hp on COX-2 expression, activation of p38MAPK and its downstream of the ATF-2 was assayed by Western blot. Results:The expression of COX-2 mRNA in MKN45 cells infected by Hp compared with control group,COX-2 mRNA had 3 fold,7.2 fold,5.1 fold,4.3 fold up-regulation after 3 hrs,6 hrs,9 hrs,12 hrs, respectively. COX-2 mRNA expression in each time group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P
