Maize seedlings were cultured in nickel or cadmium contaminated sand treated with α-naphthylacetic acid (NAA). The effects of NAA on nickel and cadmium uptake in roots, shoots, and subcellular fractions (cell wall, nuclei and remained parts of seedling cells) were determined. The data showed growth promotion when NAA was applied at low concentrations and inhibition at high concentrations. Uptake of nickel and cadmium content increased concurrently in roots and shoots. In the subcellular fraction, nickel and cadmium was greatest in the cell wall. The changes in growth had greatest correlation with nickel and cadmium content in the subcellular fraction.

Objective To investigate the effects of the silence of teratocarcinoma-derived growth factor-1 ( TDGF-1 ) gene on invasion of human pancreatic cancer cell. Methods Three small interfering RNA (siRNA) targeting for TDGF-1 genes (S1, S2, S3 ) were designed and established, then the gene with the best silencing effects was screened. Human pancreatic cancer cell line PANC1 were transfected by siRNA with different concentrations (3. 125, 6.25, 12.5 nmoL/L), the cells without transfection, and simply treated with liposomes were controls. The expressions of mRNA and protein of TDGF-1 were determined by real time PCR and Western blot assay, respectively. The anchorage-independent growth was examined by clon formation in soft agar, and invasion ability was evaluated by boyden chamber model. PANC1 cells with transfection for 48h were injected into the nude mice to evaluate the invasion ability in vivo. Results The expressions of TDGF-1 mRNA and protein of cells transfected by siRNA were decreased in a dose-and time-dependent manner, which were significantly lower than those in liposomes group. Number of colony formation and transmembrane cell were 19.8 ± 2.2 and 49.8 + 2.6 in the control group, and 5.6 + 1.2 and 8. 1 + 1.1 in the 12.5 nmol/L transfection group. The volumes of tumor 4 weeks after transplation in the control group, liposomes group and the 12.5 nmol/L transfection group were (2.228 ± 0.016 ) cm3, ( 2.186 ± 0.028 )cm3 and ( 0.728 ± 0.023 )cm3. Conclusions TDGF-1 gene silence could inhibit invasion ability of human pancreatic cancer cell PANC1.

As one of the risk factors for atherosclerosis,human cytomegalovirus infection has received increasing attention,while cytomegalovirus infection of vascular endothelial cells is considered as the initial stage of causing atherosclerosis.Therefore,elucidating the mechanism of human cytomegalovirus infection of vascular endothelial cells will help further confirm the viral and etiological theories of atherosclerosis,and may block its occurrence and development from the initial stage of infection.

Objective To research patients with ophthalmologic perioperative information systems, strengthening the information management of nursing work, achieving consensus and sharing of health care information resources, and then to explore the clinical application effects of this ophthalmologic peri- opera-tive information systems. Methods The convenient sampling method was used in the study. The control group was consisted of 1 740 patients in our hospital from January to March 2013 (before the application of ophthalmologic perioperative information systems). The observation group included 2 078 patients of the same hospital (after the application of ophthalmologic perioperative information systems). The control group adopted routine pre- operative information acquisition method, the observation group applied ophthalmologic perioperative information systems, which included input function, reading function and statistical function. The incidence rate of canceled operation and satisfaction were compared between two groups. Results Ophthalmologic peri- operative information systems provided patients with information gathering, query and analysis in different periods. The rate of the canceled operation reduced in the observation group from 3.74% (65/1 740) to 2.69% (56/2 078) in the control group, χ2=3.91, P<0.05. The satisfaction degree increased from 91.84 % (1 598/1 740) in the observation group to 96.78% (2 011/2 078) in the control group, χ2=44.60, P<0.05, the difference was statistically different. The hospitalization days from April to September in 2013 shortened compared with those of the same period in 2012. Conclusions Ophthalmologic peri- operative information systems promotes the scientific and informatization of nursing information, which is worthy of wide clinic application.

Secondary glaucoma is a kind of complications after vitrectomy, its etiologies are various and complex. Ineffective therapies might cause irreversible damage on optic nerves and visual field defect, even the loss in visual function. Nowadays, this project has been paid great attention by various researches both in China and abroad. Both the pathogens and therapies of secondary glaucoma after vitrectomy are analyzed as follows.

In recent years, there has been a comprehensive reform of higher medical education in the Medicine School of Wuhan University. According to the need for reform, the teaching of neurology has to be changed from the traditional form to a new form, and be integrated into the clinical pathophysiology and therapeutics (CPPT) courses. Currently neurology in CPPT takes the form of theoretical lectures, case discussions, combined with practical lessons to observe sections under the microscope and clinical practice, for the cultivation of students'!self-learning ability and clinical thinking. In the commissioning process, it exposes some problems in teaching process due to the characteristics of the course in neurology. For example, the knowledge of neuroanatomy is insufficient and review lessons relatively too short, and the teaching effect may be worse due to the fact that teachers have busy clinic work. In addition, students participate in case discussions with less enthusiasm. To solve these problems, we take some measures to promote teaching reform in neurology, such as increasing the review hours of neuroanatomy section in the CPPT neurology, training a group of specialized medical teachers to enrich and stabilize teacher team, adjusting the content and form of discussion class to improve students'!interest and participation, and increasing assistant jobs by the student to assist discussion teaching.

Objective To investigate the roles of ulinastatin in improving coagulation function and inhibiting fibrolysis in neohepatic phase in liver transplantation. Methods Forty patients who were to undergo liver transplantation were randomly divided into ulinastatin group(experiment group,n=20) and placebo group(control group,n=20).Platelet,prothrombin time(PT),activated partial thromboplastin time(APTT) and fibrinogen(Fg) were measured at induction,anhepatic phase(10 min after clamping),neohepatic phase(5 and 60 min after unclamping) and the end of operation.Coagulation index(CI) of thromboelastogram(TEG) was monitored,and the volumes of blood loss,red blood cells infusion,fresh frozen plasma infusion and cryoprecipitate infusion were recorded. Objective:To study the clinical efficacy of vitrectomy combined with cataract surgery enin the treatmt of proliferative diabetic retinopathy.Methods:90 patients of proliferative diabetic retinopathy who were treated from January 2013 to June 2016 in our hospital were selected.According to random number table,those patients were divided into the observation group (n=45) and the control group (n=45).The control group was treated with vitrectomy+lentectomy,while the observation group was treated with vitrectomy+ phacoemulsification.Then the best corrected visual acuity,tear interleukin (IL)-2,fluorescein (FL),breakup time of tear film (BUT) and Schirmer test(SIt) and incidence of complications were compared.Results:After operation,the best corrected visual acuity of observation group was better than that of the control group(P＜0.05);the tear IL-2 level in the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P＜0.05);the FL in the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group,the BUT and SIt were significantly higher than those of the control group (P ＜ 0.05);the incidence rate of capsular opacity,iris neovascularization,corneal edema,xerophthalmia in the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group (P ＜0.05).Conclusion:Vitrectomy combined with phacoemulsification was effective for proliferative diabetic retinopathy,which could promote the recovery of visual acuity after surgery,improvement of tear secretio and decrease the complications.
