1.A new method of cataract imaging evaluation
Ophthalmology in China 1994;0(02):-
Photography of slit-lamp biomicroscopy combined with retro-illumination photography is the gold standard in cataract evaluation. However the application is limited due to its complexity and low efficiency. We introduce digital non-mydriatic fundus photography as a new method for cataract screening in patients with visual impairment, which might play an important role in screening low vision and blindness caused by cataract. Two distinguished benefits are found in this method including compatibility for tele-diagnosis,and integration with screening of glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. Cautions should be made on the photographs in which media opacity derived from other than cataract or low quality photos due to small pupils.

Objective To investigate Hysterothylacium aduncum (Anisakidae) infection in marine fishes from Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea. Methods Nematodes were collected from the digestive tract of fishes, fixed with hot 4% formalin and preserved in 70% ethanol for study. The specimens were cleared in lactophenol for light microscopical examination, and properly treated for scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results Among the fishes examined, 14 out of 93 species (15.1%) were found infected by H.aduncum, with a higher prevalence in the fish of Lophius litulon(66.7%), Scomber-omorus niphonius(47.5%), and Gadus macrocephalus(33.3%). H.aduncum infection was first recorded in elasmobranch-Raja smirnovi. Morphological differences of H.aduncum were observed, including the width of lateral alae and the length of intestinal caecum. Conclusion H.aduncum in fishes of Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea in China may be a complex species, and its high prevalence in some fishes reminds the risk of anisakiasis by eating raw fishes.

Objective To evaluate preventive and therapeutic effects of low dose of unfractioned heparin on severe sepsis. Methods 52 Patients with severe sepsis hospitalized in Intensive Care Units were randomly divided into control group and heparin group. On the basis of conventional therapy, patients with sepsis were given low dose of unfractioned heparin or isovolume physiologic saline by continuous intravenous drip infusion over 5 days. Acute Physiologic and Chronic Healthy Evaluation (APACHE-Ⅱ) score, blood platelet count(BPC), prothrombin time(PT), activated partial thromboplastin time(aPTT), thrombin time(TT), plasma fibrinogen(FDP) and D-dimer levels were assessed on admission, 3rd, 5th day after intervention. Incidence of disseminated intravascular coagulation(DIC) and 28-day mortality between heparin group and control group were compared. Results There were no significant difference in APACHE-Ⅱ, BPC, PT, aPTT, TT, and FDP levels, incidence of DIC, and 28-day mortality between heparin group and control group. D-dimer levels in both groups decreased along with time. D-dimer levels on 5th day after treatment in heparin group was markedly decreased than that of control group(740?135?g/L vs 853?179?g/L, P

Chinese Journal of Radiation Oncology 1992;0(01):-
ObjectiveTo study the characteristics of wedge factor of enhanced dynamic wedge (EDW) on Varian 600C linear accelerator . MethodsEnhanced dynamic wedge factors (EDWFs) of different jaw settings were measured on a Varian 600C linear accelerator with FARMER 2570 dosimeter and 2571 0.6 ml Thimble ion chamber. At the same time, equations were used to compute EDWFs of symmetric and asymmetric fields and off axis points. The same measurements were carried out on 30 degree physical wedge in contrast to EDW. The accelerator's jaw position was described according to IEC radiotherapy equipment coordinate standard. Results The EDWFs of symmetric field decreased smoothly while the field size increased. Under the same field,EDWFs decreased as the wedge angle increased and the increasing extent became apparent when the field became larger. In off axis fields formed by the upper independent jaws, only the EDWFs of 60 degree had the tendency to increase when the field center moved toward the toe of the wedge, the rest gave the opposite results. The EDWFs of fixed points varied only by 0.5 percent when the fixed jaw remained at the same place and the moving jaw and lower jaws stayed at different positions. But the WF of 30 degree physical wedge increased by 2.9 percent when the lower jaw settings increased from 4 cm to 40 cm. The EDWFs derived from analytic equations for symmetric and asymmetric fields coincided well with measured results. But at off-axis points, the differences between calculated values and measured data were apparent. ConclusionsThe curve of EDWF versus field size is very smooth. The EDWF of fixed point only depends on the position of the stationary upper jaw,and is affected little by the moving upper jaw and lower jaws. The EDWFs of off axis fields are much more complex than those of physical wedge; it shouldn't be confused in clinical application. The conversion method of rectangular field to square field is of no use when EDW field is confronted. Analytic methods are highly conformal with the calculation of EDWFs of symmetric and asymmetric fields.

Objective To observe the rat chronic toxicity induced by Yinghuang freeze-dried powder injection. Methods The rats were given Yinghuang freeze-dried powder injection for 35 days with the doses of 166.5, 82.25, 41.12 mg/kg and for 15 days of stopping administration. The index sign of hematology and biochemistry were determined, and the pathological examination were carried out. Results The rat were given Yinghuang freeze-dried powder injection for 35 days and for 15 days of stopping administration. Mostly index sign of hematology and biochemistry had no significant difference by comparing with the control. There exceptional index sign of exceptional dosage group have significant difference by comparing with the control. But these exceptional index sign fluctuated in normal range in the laboratory. The pathological examination did not discover significant pathological changes related to drug toxicity. Conclusion Yinghuang freeze-dried powder injection has no significant toxicity for long-term administration on rats. It infers that the drawing up doses in clinic will be safe.

Journal of Interventional Radiology 2006;0(08):-
Objective To investigate the effectiveness of interventional therapy for the atherosclerotic renal artery occlusion (ARAO). Methods During the period of June 2001-Dec. 2007, 16 patients with ARAO (total of 16 occluded arteries) underwent interventional managements, including percutaneous endovascular renal artery revascularization, balloon dilatation angioplasty and stent placement. Follow-up survey was made at regular intervals. The patent condition of the renal artery was evaluated with ultrasonography and digital subtraction angiography. The blood pressure and the renal function were determined and the data were statistically analyzed in order to assess the intermediate and long-term effect of the interventional therapy. Results Of 16 patients, technical success was achieved in 15 (93.8%) and failure occurred in one. During a follow-up period of 9 - 24 months, 3 patients died. According to the data obtained at each patient’s last follow-up survey, the hypertension fell to normal in 3 (25.0%), was improved in 7 (58.3%) and showed no marked change in 2 patients (16.7%), with a clinical efficacy of 83.3% (10 / 12). The renal function was improved in 2 (16.7%), stabilized in 6 (50%) and deteriorated in 4 patients (33.3%), with an effective rate of 66.7% (8 / 12). Conclusion For the treatment of atherosclerotic renal artery occlusion, the interventional therapy carries high successful rate and can effectively lower the blood pressure level, in addition, it can also protect the renal function in a certain degree.
