OBJECTIVETo observe the effects of electroacupuncture at Neiguan (PC 6) and Jianshi (PC 5) com- bined with granisetron on nausea and vomiting as well as serum levels of 5-hydroxy tryptamine (5-HT) and dopamine (DA) in chemotherapy patients.

METHODSSeventy-two chemotherapy patients who met the inclusive criteria were randomly divided into an observation group (38 cases) and a control group (34 cases). The patients in the observation group were treated with electroacupuncture at Neiguan (PC 6) and Jianshi (PC 5) combined with granisetron injection; the patients in the control group were treated with electroacupuncture at sham-point 1 and sham- point 2, and the rest treatment was identical to the observation group. After 3-day treatment, the clinical indices including times of vomiting and severity of nausea, etc. were observed in the two groups.

RESULTS(1) At the acute stage within 24 h, the times of vomiting in the two groups were not significantly different (P>0.05); at the delay stage, the severity of nausea was significantly higher in the control group (P<0.05). (2) As for the comprehensive efficacy and rate of complete control, there was no obvious difference between the two groups at the acute stage (P>0.05); while in the delay stage, the rate of complete control in the observation group was superior to that in the control group (P<0.01). (3) Compared before and after the treatment, serum levels of 5-HT and DA were evidently reduced in the observation group (both P<0.05), while those in the control group were not significantly changed after treatment (both P>0.05).

CONCLUSIONElectroacupuncture at Neiguan (PC 6) and Jianshi (PC 5) combined with granisetron could obviously relieve the nausea in chemotherapy patients at the delay stage. The effect mechanism is possibly related to reducing the content of 5-HIT nndl nA

Objective To analyze the clinical features in patients with primary cardiac tumors and surgical treatment of primary cardiac tumors.Methods A retrospective analysis of primary cardiac tumors patients from June 2002 to September 2012 was performed.79 patients were confirmed using cardiac echocardiography.Primary cardiac tumors were excised using general anesthesia during cardiopulmonary bypass.Results Only 5 patients relapsed after the follow-up for 6 months to 5 years.No tumor recurrence and distant metastases were found in the other patients.Conclusion Left atrial myxoma should be removed by surgical resection as soon as possible once there is a clear diagnosis.The surgical effect of left atrial myxoma is good but it may relapse.The malignant cardiac tumors progress rapidly and should be removed by early surgery combined with comprehensive treatment to improve the prognosis.

AlM: To investigated the refraction and cycloplegic effects of 0. 5g/L tropicamide eye drops in various low myopia age groups, and provide clinical guidelines for proper usage of cyclopegic agent in different population.METHODS:Three low myopia age groups (n=45) were selected, non-cycloplegic and cycloplegic auto-refraction using “Shin-Nippon” auto-refractor were performed at various time point for refractive error. The subjective accommodation amplitudes were also collected at each time point.
RESULTS: The accommodation amplitude showed a similar but significant decline between 20~60min after the first cyclopegic drops in all three age groups. However, the decline of accommodation amplitudes were not statistically correlated with the results of “Shin-Nippon”auto-refraction results at different time points.
CONCLUSlON: The refraction time should be arranged according to the cycloplegic effects of tropicamide. Open-field auto-refractor could reduce the usage of cycloglegice drugs in low myopia groups, even for the youngest.

Objective To evaluate the early and midterm effect by retrospective analysis of the cone reconstruction in Ebstein′s anomaly. Methods From January 2012 through June 2016,16 patients with Ebstein′s anomaly underwent the cone reconstruction in our hospital. There were 7 males and 9 females at mean age(28.21 ± 11.88)years,including 12 patients of Carpentier B type,4 patients of Carpentier C type. There were 9 patients in New York Heart Association(NYHA)functional class Ⅲ,5 patients in NYHA functional class Ⅳand the others in NYHA functional class Ⅱ. All patients had Tricuspid insufficiency ,including 2 patients with Grade 2 ,10 patients with Grade 3 and 4 patients with Grade 4. All patients were followed up over a period of 6 to 51 months (mean:24.36 ± 10.71). By comparing the details of pre-operation with post-operation and post-operation with current stage,we analyze the outcomes of early and midterm effects. Results All patients are well survived. There were one patient recovering from the low cardiac output syndrome with adding the strength of the positive inotropic drug in the first day after operation ,and one patient recovering from bigeminy of ventricular prematurebeat with the aid of amiodarone and lidocaine the third day after operation. The remaining patients recovered smoothly. Early post-operative echocardiograms showed good right ventricular morphology and reduction in tricuspid regurgitation grade from(3.13 ± 0.62)to(1.75 ± 0.45)(P<0.001)with the functional class improved from(3.19 ± 0.66)to(2.00 ± 0.52)(P<0.001). After mean follow-up of(24.36 ± 10.71)months,the situation is improving furtherly with the tricuspid regurgitation grade reducing to(1.31 ± 0.48)(P=0.016)and the functional class rising to(1.50 ± 0.52) (P = 0.031). Conclusions This surgical technique for Ebstein′s anomaly can improve the function of tricuspid valve and the right ventricular morphology. It showed a satisfactory performance in the early and midterm results by enhancing the Cardiac function and life quality. But indications should be strictly grasped and more experiences need to be accumulated. Long-term effect need to be furtherly explored.

AIM: To examine the inhibition of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity by doxycycline (Doxy) and its effect on vascular smooth muscle cells (SMCs) proliferation, neointimal hyperplasia and vascular remodeling. METHODS: The model of rat common carotid artery injury was established by balloon-dilatation. Doxy was administered to the animals of treatment group at dose of 30 mg?kg -1?d -1. The activity of MMPs in the tissue of injured carotid arteries was measured by gelatin zymography. The thickness and area of neointimal, lumen area and the proliferation of SMCs were measured by histological and morphometric analysis. RESULTS: 1. Objective Callus induction and plantlets regeneration of Pogostemon cablin(Blanco)Benth.are studied to establish a high-efficiency regeneration system for tissue culture.Methods The leaf segments,nodular stem segments,stem segments and root tips from Pogostemon cablin(Blanco)Benth.were cultured in vitro.The factors which affect the induction,multiplication and differentiation of callus were studied.Results Benzylaminopurine(BA) or thidiazuron(TDZ) combined with ?-naphthylacetic acid(NAA) was helpful to induce callus.The optimal concentrations of BA were 0.2～0.5mg/L.Nodular stem segments and stem segments were the most suitable explants for callus induction.The medium containing BA and NAA promoted the multiplication of callus.The multiplication rate and differentiation rate of 30-day callus were much higher than those of 60-day callus.BA was helpful to induce callus differentiation.The callus from leaf segments exerted a higher differentiation rate.Conclusion A high-efficiency regeneration system of callus induction and plant regeneration from Pogostemon cablin(Blanco)Benth.has been established.
