Background: The results of previous studies showed that there was an increase of serum TNF-alpha in diabetes mellitus type 2.\r\n', u'Objectives: To study the change of serum TNF-alpha and the relationship between TNF-alpha and various anthropometrics indexes. \r\n', u'Subjects and methods: The controlled, prospective, cross-sectional, descriptive study was performed on 117 patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 (62 male and 55 female, average age of 60.1 10.3) and 39 control subjects (21 male and 18 female, average age of 63.3 11.1).\r\n', u'Results:The concentration of serum TNF-alpha of diabetes mellitus type 2 group was significantly higher than that of control subjects (80.45 \xb1 96.57pg/ml in type 2 diabetes group and 15.8 \xb1 48.72 pg/ml in control subjects).
