Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2014;34(4):363-366
OBJECTIVETo explore the performance patterns of reaction point Jingtong in balance acupuncture through multi-center and big-sample clinical investigation. Methods The Jingtong points of balance acupuncture on healthy side and affected side were observed among 230 cases of cervical spondylosis and scores of self-discomfort in reaction point, color of skin, changes of skin, morphology of subcutaneous tissue and abnormal pressing pain were recorded. The software SPSS 15.0 was applied to statistically analyze the recorded scores.
RESULTSAmong 230 cases, the reaction point appeared in 226 cases, accounting for 98. 3%. Among the 226 cases who had reaction point, the total score of symptom and sign was (1.08+/-1.09) on the healthy side and (0. 84+/-1. 36) on the affected side, which had statistical significance (P<0. 01); score of self-discomfort in reaction point was (0. 76 +/-0. 83) on the healthy side and (0. 40+/-0.80) on the affected side, which had statistical significance (P<0.01); the score of skin color was (0.10+/-0.36) on the healthy side and (0. 03+/- 0. 19) on the affected side, which had statistical significance (P<0. 05); the score of abnormal pressing pain was (2. 47+/-2. 46) on the healthy side and (1. 39+/-2. 37) on the affected side, which had statistical significance (P<0. 01).
CONCLUSIONThe total score of symptom and sign of reaction point Jingtong on the healthy side is higher than that on the affected side, indicating positive reaction of Jingtong on the healthy side has specificity for cervical spondylosis. When patient has cervical spondylosis on either side of neck, the other side will have anomaly in Jingtong.

A novel transferrin modified non-viral gene delivery system Tf-PLPD was developed and the related characteristics was investigated. Blank procationic liposomes were prepared by film dispersion-filteration method. PLPD was prepared as follows by first mixing the plasmid DNA and protamine together, then the resulted polyplexes were incubated for 10 min at room temperature, followed by addition of preformed blank procationic liposomes. Transferrin was adsorbed at the surface of PLPD via electrostatic interactions to form Tf-PLPD. Central composite design (CCD) was employed to optimize the formulation. The HepG2 cells were transfected using lacZ as reporter gene and characteristics such as the morphology, the mean particle size, the zeta potential and the transfection efficiency in HepG2 cells were further investigated by different methods. The resulting PLPD had a regular spherical surface with an average size of (228. 9 +/- 8. 0) nm (polydispersity index, PDI = 0. 122 +/- 0. 02, n = 3) , a zeta potential of ( - 25. 08 +/-2. 50) mV (n = 3) and a transfection efficiency of (12. 18 +/- 3. 80) mU x mg(-1) (protein). The Tf-PLPD had an average size of (240 +/- 12) nm (polydispersity index, PDI = 0. 150 +/- 0. 03, n = 3), a zeta potential of ( - 24. 10 +/- 2. 50) mV ( n = 3) and a transfection efficiency of (24. 26 +/- 2. 60) mU x mg(-1) (protein) , 20 times greater than that of the naked plasmid DNA. The presence of serum didn' t affect the tansfection activity of PLPD or Tf-PLPD. Compared to one kind of cationic liposomes (liposome-protamine-DNA, LPD), the PLPD and Tf-PLPD had much less cytotoxicity to three hepatic cell lines (including HepG2, SMMC7721 and Chang' s normal hepatocyte). The results indicated that the Tf-PLPD is a perspective non-viral vector for gene delivery systems.

Journal of Zhejiang University. Medical sciences 2004;33(4):296-299
OBJECTIVETo investigate the expression of bFGF, ET-1 and SCF in different passages of cultured dermal papilla cells (DPC), and their possible effect on biological behaviour of DPC.
METHODSThe expression of bFGF, ET-1 and SCF in different passages of cultured DPC was detected by immunocytochemistry and in situ hybridization.
RESULTThe expression of ET-1 and SCF in early passages of cultured DPC was stronger, but became negative in late passages (>6 passages). The stronger the expression of ET-1 and SCF in DPC, the higher ability of DPC to induce hair follicle regeneration.
CONCLUSIONThe expression strength of ET-1 and SCF is related to the ability of DPC inducing hair follicle regeneration.

Objective To assess the safety and efficacy of transcatheter closure of congenital coronary artery fistulas(CAFs).Methods Retrospective analysis was performed on 19 patients mean age of(5.5?4.1) years treated from February 1995 to December 2005 with transcatheter closure of CAFs using transcatheter spring coil embolization,Amplatzer PDA occluder or Amplatzer plug. One case had a residul fistula postoperatively associated with patent duetus arteriosus(PDA).Results The abnormal parameters included mean fistula diameter(3.7?1.6)mm(2.5-8.2 mm),pulmonary mean pressure(28.0?5.0)mmHg(25.0-67.0 mmHg)and pulmonary to systemic shunt(Qp/Qs)1,6?0.8(1.0-2.3).The sites of the fistulas were originated in right coronary artery 11,left anterior descending coronary artery or left circumflex coronary artery 8. Abnormal communication sites of these fistulas were to right ventricle in 14 and right atrium in 5.Various occlusion devices used to close these fistulas included one Giantureo coil in 10,2-4 Gianturco coils in 3, Duct-Occlud in 3,Amplatzer duct occluder in 2 and Amplatzer plug in 1.The post-operative residul fistula with PDA was treated successfully with PDA occlusion. The immediate, one month and one year complete occlusion rates were 55.6%(10/18),88.9%(16/18),100%(18/18),respectively.The coil slipped into the left pulmonary artery in 1 case and correction was obtained by retrieving with forceps.Follow-up studies at 3 months to 4.3 years showed complete abolition of shunt in all patients with no evidence of recanalization leading to recurrences of shunt. Conclusion Transcatheter closure of CAFs is a safe and effective alternative to surgical repair.
