1.Features and influencing factors concerning the ecological executive function of adult epileptics
Acta Universitatis Medicinalis Anhui 2017;52(2):248-251
Objective To explore the features and relevant factors of ecological executive function in adults with id-iopathic or probably symptomatic epilepsy. Methods 120 adults with idiopathic or probably symptomatic epilepsy were compared strictly with 120 healthy controls of the same gender, age , marriage and educational degree. The differences in ecological executive function were compared between the two groups with the Behavior Rating Inven-tory of Executive Function-adult version( BRIEF-A);apply multiple stepwise linear regression analysis was used to explore the correlations between epileptic factors with projects of BRIEF-A. Results Compared with controls, the epileptics yielded higher scores significantly on all projects of BRIEF-A(P<0. 05):global executive composite,be-havioral regulation index, inhibition, shift, emotion control, self-monitoring, metacognition index, initiation, working memory, plan, organization, task monitor. Multiple stepwise linear regression analysis showed that four clinical fea-tures videlicet seizure type, seizure frequency, epilepsy control and antiepileptic drugs were closely related to BRIEF-A while factors such as course of disease, gender, age, marriage, educational degree, initial age were not rele-vant to BRIEF-A. Conclusion The ecological executive function of adults with idiopathic or probably symptomatic epilepsy impairment is affected by seizure type, seizure frequency, epilepsy control and antiepileptic drugs.

Objective To study the amount of rhizospheric microorganisms and soil enzyme activity influenced by Paridis Rhizoma in different locations and of different strains. Methods The amount of rhizospheric microorganisms, soil enzyme activity and their correlation were researched through field survey and collection of rhizospheric soil in Paridis Rhizoma cultivated in Three Gorges Reservoir Region and by microbial dilution plate culture method. Results The amount of rhizospheric microorganisms in Paridis Rhizoma from different habitats showed significant differences. The dominant species in soil microflora was bacteria; the second one was actinomycetes; the fewest one was fungus. The variation trend of the amount of rhizospheric microorganisms was not consistent with the variation trend of rhizospheric microorganisms diversity index. The activity of soil phosphatase, invertase and pepsin in Paridis Rhizoma from different habitats varied. The correlation analysis showed that the correlation between the soil enzyme activity and the amount of rhizospheric microorganisms existed. Conclusion Choosing the suitable strains and habitats of Paridis Rhizoma is beneficial to enhancing the amount of rhizospheric microorganisms and soil enzyme activity, which can create good micro-ecological environment for growth and cultivation of Paridis Rhizoma.

BACKGROUND:Abnormal gaits are very common in children with cerebral palsy, and how to improve the gait is the focus of rehabilitation therapy. OBJECTIVE:To analyze the biomechanical parameters of gaits in cerebral palsy children and to observe the effects of brace control on the exercise capacity of dyskinetic cerebral palsy children. METHODS:In this paper, we compared the biomechanical parameters of children with cerebral palsy and normal children in the initial process of walking and during walking. Biomechanical parameters in the initial process of walking include spatial and temporal parameters, kinematic and kinetic parameters of the range of motion of the knee and ankle. Biomechanical parameters during walking include spatial and temporal parameters. With the aid of hand brace, dyskinetic cerebral palsy received postural control, gait training, and sling exercise therapy for 3 months. The Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM-88) assessment and video control were conducted for evaluation of therapeutic efficiency. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Biomechanical parameters in the initial process of walking showed significant differences between children with cerebral palsy and normal children except for the peak of ground reaction force at frontal axis with the right foot to start walking. Biomechanical parameters during walking showed that the stance phase and bipedal stance phase were prolonged, while the step length and stride length were shortened in the children with cerebral palsy compared with the normal children. For cerebral palsy children with brace control, the GMFM-88 scores were significantly decreased after treatment, involuntary movements were reduced shown on the video, the neck and body were stable, and life skil s were improved. Children with epilepsy and cognitive impairment or who had imaging changes in the basal ganglia showed a little improvement, and children with dance-athetoid type and dystonia type had a better progress than those with athetoid spasm.

Schistosomiasis was one of the most prevalent severe infectious diseases in China. Most ot the control plans implemented were based on local settings;thus, the national schistosomiasis control program involved different control phases. These included a working mechanism based on multisectoral cooperation which involved government at all levels, communities, and professionals. It also involved updating the technical strategies and interventions through intensive research,to provide adequate support for programs at different stageswith changing natural and social features. To commemorate the 61st anniversary of publishing Chairman Mao Zedong's two poems titled Farewell to the God of Plague,we have distilled lessons leamt from national schistosomiasis control programs, which could be transferred to other endemic countries.Based on this work,we published a series of articles to demonstrate the successive programs in different areas or levels in China, and also discussed how best to apply those successive experiences into African countries where schistosomiasis is still a public health problem. There are three major lessons learnt from the Chinese national schistosomiasis control program over the last six decades:(1) sustained commitment by the Chinese governments, from central to local levels;(2) continuous update of control strategies and interventions applied at the village level, based on local settings;and (3) maintaining surveillance-response systems implementation in programs at all levels. With sustained efforts, only 37,000 patients including 2.9% advanced patient cases were found in the country, with six provinces out of the 12 endemic provinces yet to achieve transmission interruption, based on the epidemiological report in 2017.Therefore,Chinese experiences in disease control program are sufficient to promote disease control programs in other developing countries, which would also improve the visibility of Chinese contribution to the world disease control programs.Pursuit of this global engagement will also provide the impetus to maintain our surveillance-response capacity in the post-elimination stage.

AIM: To study the immunological protection of H. pylori vaccine with chitosa as adjuvant. METHODS: One-grade female BALB/c mice were randomly divided into nine groups and immunized by ①PBS alone; ②chitosan solution alone; ③chitosan particles alone; ④H. pylori antigen alone; ⑤H. pylori antigen plus chitosan solution; ⑥H. pylori antigen plus chitosan particles; ⑦H. pylori antigen plus CT; ⑧H. pylori antigen plus chitosan solution and CT; ⑨H. pylori antigen plus chitosan particles and CT. At 4 weeks after the last immunization, these mice were challenged by alive H. pylori(1?1012CFU/L) twice at two-day intervals. At 4 weeks after the last challenge, these mice were all killed and gastric mucosa were embedded in paraffin, sectioned and assayed with Giemsa staining. The other gastric mucosa were used to quantitatively culture with H. pylori. ELISA was used to detect H.pylori IgA in saliva and gastric mucosa and anti-H.pylori IgG, IgG1, IgG2a in serum, and immunohistochemical method was used to examine sIgA in gastric mucosa. RESULTS: ①In the groups with chitosan as adjuvant, 60% mice achieved immunological protection, which was according to that with CT as adjuvant (58.33%), and was significantly higher than H. pylori antigen alone and other groups without H. pylori antigen(P0.05)and were significantly higher than those in non-adjuvant groups, while those in the groups with chitosan plus CT were significantly higher than those in the group with CT as an adjuvant(P

In this paper, the varying pattern of the amount of rhizospheric microorganisms, including bacteria, actinomycetes and fungus, was observed during the cultivation of Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis. And the correlations between number of rhizospheric microorganisms and the quality of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis were also studied. The results showed that the rhizospheric microorganism source of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis was rich. The distribution of rhizospheric microorganisms (soil bacteria, fungus, actinomycetes, potassium-solubilizing bacteria, inorganic phosphorus-solubilizing bacteria, organic phosphorus-solubilizing bacteria) collected from different origin places existed significant difference (P < 0.05). The varying pattern for the amount of rhizospheric microorganisms was showed as following: the amount of bacteria > the amount of actinomycetes > the amount of fungus. The medicinal quality of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis was influenced by their habits, and the increase of cultivation years caused the obvious decrease of the quality of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis. Therefore, the increase of cultivation years will cause the variation of the soil micro-ecology flora, and decrease the nutrient absorption and the utilization of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis, which will make the decrease of the medical quality of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis.

The unprecedented globalization of trade, travel, climate change, protectionism, and geopolitical populism,as well as pandemic health threats are no longer issues for a single nation. In the field of public health,China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) offers immense opportunities for partnership and collective actions involving multiple countries to combat globalization-linked infectious and/or chronic diseases, emerging pandemics, and outbreaks of potential threats to both laboratory information management systems and health information management. The national and global health challenges have increasingly proved that economic prosperity cannot be achieved when huge knowledge and capacity gaps exist in health systems. There is thus a need for public health initiatives aimed at strengthening the health systems beyond sovereign borders to influence global geo-economics.We highlight situational insights that offer approaches and strategies for increasing public health investment and capacity development in the countries along the Belt and Road, enhancing public and global health cooperation alongside participation in disease control and elimination, promoting public health governance and data sharing for pandemic threats, and building shared values and benefits in public health through Sino-African cooperation and the BRI.Our approach also examines the values of the China's BRI in relation to public health, projections and initiatives for increasing new investment and development capacity in public health systems, and enhanced public and global health cooperation and participation toward the BRI's framework and scope.
