Objective To evaluate the characters of respiratory function in children with chronic cough and explore the correlative association between cough variant asthma(CVA) and etiology of chronic cough. Methods One hundred and forty patients with chronic cough were divided into 2 groups based on peak expiratory flow(PEF) or forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1).Ninty-three cases were done exercise test and 47 cases were done bronchoditor rest. The parameters included forced vital capacity(FVC),FEV1,PEF,forced expiratory flow at 50% and 75%(FEF50,FEF75).Results The measurement 35 cases with positive bronchoditor rest, and 30 cases with positive exercise test were found. The PEF and FEV1 variation rate were(18.30?10.50)%,(18.78?9.44)% in exercise test groups,and(30.36?27.27)%,(36.13?26.83)% in bronchoditor rest groups, respectively. Conclusions FEV1,PEF may be used as markers for the reversibility of airway obstructe in children with CVA.There is significant correlation between PEF and FEV1.Respiratory function mensurate may reflect the change and degree of inflammation in the airway of children with chronic cough.

Background Central corneal thickness (CCT)is an important parameter to evaluate corneal healthy status and is crucial for surgical planning. However, clinical study found that the center of cornea does not correspond to the thinnest point of cornea. Thus,it is essential to characterize the minimum corneal thickness(MCT) and its location. Objective Present study was to determine the thickness and location of MCT and its relationship to the fellow eye using Pentacam High Resolution technique. Methods The 564 eyes from 282 Chinese myopic patients were reviewed in this study. The CCT,MCT,pupillary central corneal thickness(PCT) and x-y coordinate of thinnest point were bilaterally measured.Written informed consent was obtained prior to the ocular biomedical measurement. Results CCT was (540.07±31.78) μm in the right eyes and (539.24±31.06) μm in the lefi eyes; PCT was (540.25±30.75)μm in the right eyes and (539.48±31.00)μm in the left eyes.MCT was (537.87± 31.91)μm in the right eyes and (536.35±31.24)μm in the left eyes, showing significant differences in all the parameters between the right eyes and left eyes expect for PCT(CCT:P=0.046;PCT:P=0.065 ;MCT:P=0.000).The C CT,PCT and M CT were significantly correlated between the right eyes and left eyes (r =0.97,0.97,0.98,P< 0.01).Bland-Altman plot showed a good consistence between the both eyes. The mean distance from the center was (0.50±0.21) mm in the right eyes and (0.56±0.22)mm in the left eyes, showing a significant difference (P =0.000).The difference between CCT and MCT was approximately (2.20±1.74)μm in the right eyes and (2.88±1.75) μm in the left eyes. The location of MCT in both the right eyes and left eyes tended to symmetry along the vertical midline. The distance between the R (x,y) to transformed L (x,y) was (0.29 ± 0.17)mm and the angular distance was (28.28±28.21)degree.Conclusions This study offers a range of MCT and its location in Chinese myopic patients. The difference exists between the CCT and MCT in bilateral eyes. The location of the thinnest point tends to be symmetrical along the vertical midline between the both eyes. The changes of these parameters may be helpful for the diagnosis of some corneal diseases.

Microbiology 1992;0(03):-
In this assay, the reaction kinetics, optimum temperature, pH and various influential factors of ATP microbial rapid detection reagent by bioluminescence were studied. The results showed that it's enough for detection system to have 40 ~ 50?g/mL D-Luciferin. The light production decreased fastest in the first minute of reaction, then began to decay slowly. The optimal reaction temperature was 24℃~25℃and the optimal pH was pH 7.2 -7.4 in the reaction system. In addition, when stored at 4℃for 45h, the dissolved reagent solution could keep its 86% activity. When preserved at 25℃, the enzyme activity decreased less for 1h, and degraded gradually as time went by and only left 53. 5% of its activity after 6. 5h. While stored at 33℃, the enzyme activity decreased quickly with the time and only left 59. 1% after 1. 5h. The result indicated that storage temperature was a very important influential factor to the activity of reagent Meanwhile, different chemical substance such as acid, alkali, salt and surfactants inhibited the ATP bioluminescent reaction. When the concentration of NaCl reached 1. 5g/L, it could inhibit 52. 5% light production. Triton X-100, acid, and alkali also had some effects on the reaction, while CTAB, SDS and TCA would inhibit the bioluminescent reaction seriously.

Objective To evaluate the effect of pulmonary function test on infants with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). Methods Forty-eight patients were divided into two groups based on physical examination. Pulmonary function were measured in 48 patients. Age-matched healthy infants were enrolled as controls. The parameters included ratio of volume to PEF to total expiratory volume(VPTEF/VE,tPTEF/tE),inspiratory time/expiratory time(TI/tE),inspiratory time/total respiratory time(TI/Ttot),ratio of 50% of the tital inspiratory flow to tital volume(TIF_ 50 /V_T),mean inspiratory flow(V_T/TI),function capacity(FRCp),resistance effective(Reff). Results TI/Ttot,ratio of 50% of the tital expiratory flow to 50% of the tital inspiratory flow(TEF_ 50 /TIF_ 50 ),FRCp,Reff were significantly higher in patients compared with controls(P

Objective To observe the protein and mRNA expression of thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor (TSHR) in mammary gland tissue of lactating rats, and to explore iodine uptake mechanism. Methods Eighty adult Wistar rats (60 female and 20 male),weighting 210-250 g were selected. All female Wistar rats were randomly divided into 6 groups according to their body mass:normal non-pregnant group, lactating for 5-,10-,15-and 20-day groups and weaning for 5 days group,10 rats in each group. All rats were fed with conventional fodder and tap water freely. In addition to the normal non-pregnant group, other five groups of female and male rats were mated at 3 ∶ 1,respectively.Then the rats in all groups were killed on the 5th,10th,15th and 20th day after lactation and on the 5th day after weaning to get the mammary gland tissue. The protein and mRNA expression of TSHR were determined by immunohistochemical staining and real-time quantitative PCR.Results TSHR protein was expressed in mammary acinar and ductal epithelial cytoplasm. The expression of TSHR in mammary gland showed significant differences between groups (x2 =14.612,P < 0.05),the staining intensity of mammary gland tissue in normal non-pregnant rats(weak,n =4; moderate,n =6) was weaker than that of lactating for 5 days(weak,n =2; moderate,n =3; strong,n =5) and 10 days groups(barely detectable,n =1;moderate,n =4; strong,n =5; x2 =4.113,5.250,all P< 0.05).The expression of TSHR mRNA in mammary gland showed significant differences between groups(F=20.488,P < 0.05); the expression of TSHR mRNA in lactating for 10 days group(0.31 ± 0.06) was higher than that of lactating for 5 days group(0.22 ± 0.04,P < 0.01),and the expression of lactating for 15 days group (0.16 ± 0.08) was significantly lower than that of lactating for 5 days group (P < 0.05).Conclusions TSHR is widely expressed in mammary gland of lactating rats. The iodine uptake of mammary gland is enhanced in early lactation period when the body may be more susceptible to iodine deficiency, therefore iodine should be supplemented reasonably.
