Objective To discuss the diagnosis and treatment of cerebral sparganosis. Methods To summary four cases of cerebral sparganosis, focusing on the clinical course and imaging findings, with the goal of better diagnostic skills. Results All 4 cases had some kind of misdiagnosis and improvement after surgery or parasiticidal pharmacotherapy. Cerebral MRI and CT scans revealed relatively extensive white matter degeneration and focal enhancements. Subsequent scans showed changes in shape and location of the enhanced foci, indicating the migration of sparganum. Pathologic findings of 3 patients who had undergone surgery showed granuloma and sparganum. Conclusions Cerebral sparganosis has relatively special manifestions on imaging, which are of diagnostic value. The spaganum should be as completely removed as possible during surgery.

Natural product is an important source of new drug research and development (R&D). Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) innovation is the key step for its modernization and internationalization. However, due to the complexity of TCM, there are many difficulties and confusions in this process. Target-based drug discovery is the mainstream model and method of R&D. TTD, short for therapeutic target database, is developed by National University of Singapore. Besides a large amount of information on drug targets, the database also contains considerable information related to natural products. This paper briefly introduces the TTD, analyzes the natural products derived drugs/compounds recorded in TTD, which we think might provide some inspiration for the innovation of TCM.

Objective To explore the function of fluorescent probe JC-1 in detecting the changes of mitochondrial membrane potential(△?m)in early apoptotic cells. Methods After 2-ME was used to induce MUTZ-1 cell apoptosis, cells were dyed with fluorescent probe JC-1,and then the changes of △?m in the early stage of apoptotic cells were analyzed by flow cytometry or detected under fluorescent microscope. Results The control cells with high △?m are those forming JC-1 aggregates in the inner membrane of mitochondria, thus showing orange-red fluorescence.2-ME caused decrease of △?m in MUTZ-1 cells,in which JC-1 maintains monomeric form, thus showing only green fluorescence. The decreases of △?m were in a time-dependent manner, which were significantly higher than those in control group(P

Chinese Journal of Burns 2013;29(6):519-525
Burn patients often suffer from different degrees of dysfunction, such as residual burn wounds, formation of hyperplastic scar, scar itching, cardiopulmonary dysfunction, limitation of motion, and psychological disorders, which exert severe impact on their daily life. This article reviews various rehabilitation treatments for dysfunction after burn injury to promote rehabilitation of burn patients.

The ideal treatment and recovery of osteoarticular injury remain to be resolved. Small intestinal submucosa (SIS), a naturally-occurring decellularized extracellular matrix, has been recognized as an ideal scaffold for tissue engineering and widely used in repairing various tissues and organs. Nowadays its application has also been gradually increased in the field of orthopedics. We reviewed laboratorial studies and clinical trails about the application of SIS in bone and joint repair, aiming to evaluate its effects on the repair of bone, cartilage, meniscus, ligament and tendon. SIS has showed promising results in repairing bone, meniscus, ligament or tendon. However, additional studies will be required to further evaluate its effects on articular cartilage and tendon-bone healing. How to optimize SIS material,is also a focused problem concerned with making SIS a potential therapeutic option with high value for orthopedic tissue repair.

ObjectiveTo explore the effect of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells transplantation on the deep partial thickness derma burn injury in guinea pigs.MethodsSuspension cells of MSCs were cultured in vitro and transplanted into wounds of the female guinea pig of the deep partial thickness derma burn injuring model with the concentration of 2×106cell/ml(group A),2×107cell/ ml(group B). The rate of wound healing was observed, factor Ⅷ was detected using immunohistochemistry. Y chromosome on the wound in guinea pig was detected using PCR 15,30,50 days after MSCs had been transplanted. ResultsThe rate of wound healing of groups A and B was better than that in the control group, but there was not significantly different between groups A and B. Microvessel density of wound in groups A and B was better than those in the control group on the 15th and 30th days. There was not significantly different between the group A and B. PCR results showed that Y chromosome gene was expressed on some recoveried wound of female guinea pig. ConclusionBone marrow mesenchymal stem cells transplantation is effective in deep partial thickness derma burn injury in guinea pigs.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2023;44(8):1207-1210
Objective:
To understand the association between sugar sweetened beverage consumption with physical fitness index among college students, so as to provide a reference for the improvement and intervention of college students physical fitness.
Methods:
From September to December 2021, a total of 5 520 college students from universities in Jilin, Anhui, Jiangxi, Xinjiang, and Shanghai, were surveyed with sugar sweetened beverage consumption and physical fitness using stratified cluster sampling. One way ANOVA and Logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the association between sugary drink consumption and physical fitness index (PFI).
Results:
The frequencies of sugar-sweetened beverage consumption among college students were 10.3% , 67.2%, 13.9% , and 8.6% for 0, 1-3, 4-5, and ≥ 6 times/week, respectively. The differences in waist circumference, grip strength, standing long jumping, sit and reach, 50-meter running, and 1 000/800 meter running performance were statistically significant among college students with varying sugar-sweetened beverage consumption ( F =8.67, 7.22, 11.20, 13.47, 3.98, 2.86 , P <0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that those who had sugary drinks 4-5 times/week, ≥ 6 times/week had a higher risk of low PFI compared to those who reported no sugary drinks ( OR =1.48, 1.56, P <0.05). With respect to gender, the risk of low PFI was also higher among male students who consumed sugary drinks ≥6 times/week ( OR =2.01, P <0.05), while there was no significant difference among female students.
Conclusion
Sugar-sweetened beverage consumption is negatively associated with the physical fitness index among college students with significant gender differences. College students, especially males, should be targeted to improve health literacy, reduce the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages, so as to improve physical fitness.
