OBJECTIVEYoga is becoming more and more popular in the female society while the concomitant sports injury is seldom mentioned. Many clinicians have noted that yoga may result in knee problems, which though requires more researches to corroborate. This investigation was conducted to ascertain the relationship between yoga and meniscus injury as well as the extent of impairment according to variant yoga practice periods.
METHODSTotally 819 women aged 20-49 years who practiced yoga or other popular sports including badminton, jogging, climbing hills, etc for at least one hour per day were selected to participate in this research. These subjects were required to complete a questionnaire and receive relevant physical examination. Magnetic resonance (MR) scan of the knee was recommended for the suspicious subjects for ultimate diagnosis. The subject with abnormal meniscus MR signals was defined as a case and matched with two controls in terms of age and body mass index (BMI). Altogether there were 273 cases and 546 controls. The nested case-control model was adopted to assess the risk of meniscus injury between variant exposures in practicing yoga and several other popular sports. Moreover, the 181 yoga subjects were subdivided into three groups according to different exercise durations, followed by further analysis with the variables of age, BMI and Lysholm score.
RESULTSYoga was found associated with a higher risk (P equal to 0.008, OR equal to 1.621) of meniscus injury compared with badminton, jogging and climbing hills. The three yoga subgroups showed statistical difference between each other in terms of Lysholm score (P equal to 0.027) and BMI (P equal to 0.003). The subjects with longer-term yoga practice had lighter weight but lower Lysholm scores.
CONCLUSIONSYoga perhaps exerts destructive impact on the meniscus for Chinese women, yet it needs further verifications. Furthermore, the female yoga players with longer exercise duration are more susceptible to meniscus injury though they can become leaner.

In order to investigate the prevalence and track genetic and antigenic evolutions of infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) and their prevalence in Guangxi, China since 1985, gene amplification and sequencing and virus neutralization (VN) test on chicken embryo tracheal organ cultures were used in genotyping and serotyping of 28 IBV isolates during 2009-2011 in Guangxi. The results of N gene sequencing and comparison showed that the 28 isolates and reference strains were classified into three groups, and most isolates belonged to group Ill, while the isolates in 1985-2008 belonged to groups IV and II. The data of VN test indicated that the 28 isolates belonged to 6 serotypes; among them, 71. 4% belonged to serotypes 1, 2, and 3, and 11 (39.3%) shared the same serotype with the current vaccine strains. Given the data of our previous study, it is found that prevalent serotypes and their proportions varied in different areas of Guangxi and during different periods. These data lay a good foundation for developing an oil-emulsified inactivated polyvalent vaccine containing local dominant serotypes for the effective prevention and control of infectious bronchitis.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of donor-derived NK cells added to pretreatment conditioning regimen on hematopoietic reconstitution after MHC haplotype-mismatched BMT in mice.
METHODSMurine model of MHC haplotype-mismatched BMT was established by using BALB/c(H-2d) x C57BL/6(H-2b) (CB6F(1)(H-2d/b)) mouse as recipient, and C57BL/6(H-2b) mouse as donor. Fifty recipient mice were divided into 5 groups. The mice in the first three groups were each infused 1 x 10(6), 5 x 10(5), 2 x 10(5)/mouse donor-derived NK cells, respectively before TBI ((60)Co, 9.0 Gy) and then conditioned with TBI, followed by infusion of C57BL/6(H-2b) mice bone marrow cells four hours later. The mice in the fourth group received TBI only, and in the fifth group, TBI and BMT at the some doses as the first three groups. Hematopoietic reconstitution, survival time, body weight, histopathology of the recipients were followed up.
RESULTS(1) Survival time was (5.15 +/- 0.66) days for the fourth group, and > 30 days for the other 4 groups. (2) Leukocyte and platelet counts at day 10 after BMT were (0.99 +/- 0.22) x 10(9)/L and (61.0 +/- 7.27) x 10(9)/L respectively for the fifth group and (2.01 +/- 0.21) x 10(9)/L, (101.50 +/- 16.34) x 10(9)/L; (1.98 +/- 0.29) x 10(9)/L, (99.50 +/- 16.41) x 10(9)/L and (1.97 +/- 0.21) x 10(9)/L, (98.0 +/- 16.19) x 10(9)/L for the first three groups, respectively. Histopathology displayed no GVHD in all the groups.
CONCLUSIONDonor-derived NK cells could promote hematopoietic reconstitution after MHC haplotype-mismatched BMT in mice.

BACKGROUNDConstruction of replication-deficient recombinant adenovirus expressing gag-pol and env genes of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in mice.
METHODSgag-polDelta and gp140TM genes were cloned into shuttle vector pAdTrack-CMV respectively, and then the plasmids containing gag-polDelta or gp140TM gene were cotransformed with the backbone of adenovirus into E.coli BJ5183. Transfections of the recombinants were performed to obtain recombinant adenoviruses. Its immunogenicity was evaluated by testing antibody levels of mice primed with DNA vaccines and boosted with recombinant adenoviruses.
RESULTSThe replication-deficient recombinant adenovirus could express Gp140TM, Gag P55 and P24 proteins correctly. The mice primed with DNA vaccines and boosted with recombinant adenoviruses elicited high titer of HIV-1-specific antibody compared with that inoculated with DNA vaccines only.
CONCLUSIONReplication-deficient recombinant adenovirus expressing gag-polDelta and gp140TM can elicit high titer HIV-1-specific antibodies.

Chinese Journal of Pediatrics 2008;46(12):881-884
OBJECTIVETo discuss the diagnostic methods and features of anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA).
METHODSA total of 22 cases of ALCAPA hospitalized between 2000 and 2007 were recruited and divided into infant group (age < or = 1 year, n = 10) and older children group (age > 1 year, n = 12). The patients' history, electrocardiography (ECG) and echocardiography were reviewed and analyzed retrospectively. ECGs were analyzed as follows: (1) Q wave and T wave inversion in lead I, (2) Abnormal Q wave and T wave inversion in lead aVL, (3) Q wave in lead V(5-6), (4) T wave inversion and ST changes in lead V(4-6), (5) LV hypertrophy. Echocardiograms were analyzed as follows: (1) Continuity of the left coronary artery (LCA) and pulmonary artery (PA), (2) Retrograde shunt into PA, (3) Increased papillary muscle echodensity, (4) Right coronary artery (RCA) dilation, (5) Collateral signals within the ventricular septum.
RESULTSThe presence of cardiomegaly in X-ray film (18/22), aVL QT pattern in ECG (17/22), retrograde color Doppler flow into pulmonary artery (20/22), anterior lateral papillary echogenic (17/22) and collateral vessel signals (16/22) in echocardiography were high in both groups (P > 0.05). The presence of clinical symptoms and abnormal Q wave in leads Iand V(5-6) in ECG were significantly higher in the infant group than in the older children group (P < 0.05). But the presence of right coronary artery dilation was significantly lower in the infant group than in the older children group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONDifferent diagnostic features were found in infant and older children patients. With combination of patient history, electrocardiogram and echocardiogram, accurate diagnosis could be obtained in most pediatric patients with ALCAPA.

Chinese Journal of Contemporary Pediatrics 2019;21(1):18-23
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the prevalence of Bordetella pertussis infection in children with chronic cough and its clinical features.
METHODS:
A total of 106 children who were treated at the outpatient service or hospitalized from January 1, 2016 to May 31, 2017 were enrolled. Their nasopharyngeal swabs and venous blood samples were collected for Bordetella pertussis culture, multiple PCR and serum anti-pertussis toxin antibody detection. According to these results, the children were divided into pertussis group with 26 children and control group with 80 children, and clinical features were analyzed for both groups. E-test stripes were used to determine the sensitivity of Bordetella pertussis strains to erythromycin, azithromycin, doxycycline, levofloxacin, sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim and amoxicillin.
RESULTS:
Of the 106 children with chronic cough, 26 (24.5%) were found to have Bordetella pertussis infection. There were no significant differences in the incidence rates of typical symptoms of pertussis between the pertussis and control groups (P>0.05). E-test showed that erythromycin and azithromycin had a minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of >256 mg/L against five Bordetella pertussis strains, while amoxicillin had an MIC of 0.5-1 mg/L.
CONCLUSIONS
The presence of Bordetella pertussis infection in children with chronic cough should be taken seriously by clinicians, and children with chronic cough and Bordetella pertussis infection may not have the typical symptoms of pertussis and are mainly manifested as chronic cough. Amoxicillin may be an alternative drug for macrolide-resistant Bordetella pertussis infection.

Objective To investigate the prevalence change of drinking water type of endemic fluorosis and the effect of control measures implemented in Huangyuan county of Qinghai province. Methods In 2009, all the endemic fluorosis villages in Huangyuan county were divided into two degrees, light and medium, according to the water fluorosis content before implementing the improving water project, 1 to 2 villages were selected from each degree village, respectively,as monitoring sites, and a total of 3 villages were selected. Source water and tap water samples were collected from each village and water fluoride concentration was determined. Dental fluorosis of all children aged 8 to 12 of monitoring villages was examined, and urine samples were collected by age group of children for determination of urinary fluoride. Clinical skeletal fluorosis of adults over 16 years of age was examined, and 20 copies of adults urine samples were collected to determine urinary fluoride. One village was selected in the 3 villages monitored to conduct X-rays examination of skeletal fluorosis. Water fluoride was tested in accordance with the "Non-metallic Targets Test Methods for Drinking Water" (GB/T 5750.6-2006); urinary fluoride was tested by fluoride ion-selective electrode method (WS/T 89-1996); dental fluorosis was diagnosed using Dean method;adult skeletal fluorosis was diagnosed by "Clinical Diagnostic Criteria for Endemic Skeletal Fluorosis"(WS 192-2008). Results Twelve water samples were assayed, water fluoride was (0.35 ± 0.43) mg/L. The detectable rate of dental fluorosis of 122 children aged 8-12 was 34.43%(42/122) and the geometric mean urinary fluoride was 0.89 mg/L of the 96 children. Of the 834 adults aged 16 and over, clinical detection of skeletal fluorosis was 47.72% (398/836) and geometric mean urinary fluoride was 1.10 mg/L of the 65 cases of adult urine samples assayed, detection rate of X-rays was 31.4% (11/35) in Gangou village of the 35 adults examined. Conclusions In Huangyuan county, water fluoride of the 3 surveyed villages are normal but the endemic fluorosis is still serious. It should strengthen monitoring and analyze the causes and improve prevention measures.
